When medical student Courtney Homes approaches fellow student Jamie with the an intriguing prospect of 'having fun tonight', Jamie could never have guessed what he was getting himself in for. He accepts the request and Courtney tells him to travel down into the basement facility at midnight.
The time arrives and Jamie is finally made aware of Courtney's plan. She asks Jamie to stop her heart for precisely one minute and then bring her back to the land of the living. Jamie's far from convinced that it's a good idea but hears out her plan anyway. Courtney's obsessed with finding out what happens to humans after we die and she's convinced that she'll be able to track it using some high spec medical equipment able to document brain activity.
Reluctantly Jamie accepts Courtney's proposal and they begin their experiment. She's hooked up to multiple machines and Jamie slows her heart down until it finally makes its last beat. Once Courtney is brought back around she tries to explain what she's experienced and compares it to being in the presence of pure energy. What neither of the students knew was that their little experiment would have a lasting impact of their lives. It appears that Courtney has been given a new gift, she's now able to perfectly play the piano, and the other students involved think that she's been "rewired" and made an even better form of who she previously was.

Hollywood superstars in the making.
Every year a deluge of new talent floods the movie theatres and 2016 was no different. Some stars, the likes of Sofia Boutella ('Star Trek Beyond'), Travis Fimmel ('Warcraft'), Zoey Deutch ('Why Him?'), Jack Huston ('Ben-Hur') and Aidan Turner ('Poldark'), are the kind of actors that have been around for a while, but have only this year managed to land leading roles. Others have broken through with immense force after almost total obscurity:
Millie Bobby Brown at the 68th Emmy Awards
1. Millie Bobby Brown - Matt and Ross Duffer couldn't have imagined the kind of success their 80s inspired supernatural TV series 'Stranger Things' would have, but arguably the world's favourite thing about that show is Millie Bobby Brown, who plays telekinetic labrat Eleven. For a while it was up in the air as to whether or not she would return for the second series given the mysterious fate of her character in the first season's final episode, but recent confirmations suggest we haven't seen the last of her.

We are less than two weeks away from the release of the stand-alone 'Star Wars' movie 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' and now Disney have unveiled some exciting clips exploring the intense stress that the Rebel Alliance are under, and introducing a key new character or two.
K-2SO doesn't trust Jyn
'Rogue One' follows the adventures of Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) as she joins the Rebel Alliance to help bring down the Galactic Empire's plans to launch an apocalyptic new superweapon known as the Death Star. Jyn teams up with Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) for the mission, who appears to be highly suspicious of... well, everything. The Book Of Life sees Manolo setting out on an exciting, but dangerous journey across three majestic worlds where he will face his greatest challenges, in order to return to Mexico and win over Maria once and for all.
From producer Guillermo Del Toro, The Book Of Life is an animated comedy film directed by Jorge Gutierrez and written by Gutierrez and Doug Langdale (Aladdin: The Return of Jafar). The Book Of Life sees Gutierrez attempt a Nightmare Before Christmas esque Tim Burton style, with jovially dark animation. With exceptional visuals and a story of fortitude, The Book Of Life should be a loveable film for all.
People often complain about the selection of movies on Netflix- we pick out some undiscovered gems.
Most films on the lower rungs of Netflix occupy that position for a single reason: they’re downright terrible. The acting is at best laughable and at worst cringe-worthy, whilst the script seems to be the product of baboons who possess a slightly above average intelligence. Elsewhere, the special effects are seemingly artefacts from design software that became obsolete once Windows 98 was released and the goofs and continuity errors come thick and fast. But amongst the schlock, the horribly ill-conceived box office flops and throwaway Chuck Norris vehicles are a selection of films hardly deserving of their placement amongst the vast expanse of Hollywood detritus. We’ve all sifted through the lower echelons of the vast Netflix database, ambivalently scrolling past Beverly Hills Ninja and Death Wish 4 and laughing at the hilarity of shoe-string budget horror C-movies such as Return Of The Killer Tomatoes and Strippers Vs Werewolves. Hiding amongst the most forgettable and artistically hollow filmic endeavours are some criminally overlooked works of cinematic art. Here is a selection of filmic diamonds who have unfairly found themselves confined to the Netflix motion picture ghetto:

'Cesar Chavez' is the inspirational story of the celebrated American Mexican, labour leader and civil rights activist who devoted his life to improving the treatment of his fellow farm workers via attempting to rally 50,000 workers to stand up to the racial inequality and brutality at the hands of their employees.
Written by Keir Pearson (Hotel Rwanda) Chavez encapsulates the angst, horror and exploitation of the hard working farmers of America and the determination and bravery of Cesar Chavez who co-founded and lead the National Farm Workers Association during the non-violent, yet powerful, unprecedented actions committed by the farm workers in order to obtain the civil rights they deserved.
Chavez is a touching and moving biopic that represents the hope and aspiration of the working farmers in America during the .

As he did with District 9, South African filmmaker Blomkamp grounds this sci-fi thriller in present-day society, telling a story that resonates with a strong political kick. He also again uses effects in a off-handed way that never steals focus from the actors. On the other hand,he fails to build much of an emotional impact, even though the script continually tries to ramp up the personal drama. But the actors are all very watchable, and the film's urgent vibe keeps us gripped.
It's set in 2154 Los Angeles, a sprawling shantytown where people struggle to survive without adequate resources or health care. In orbit above the earth, Elysium is an idyllic refuge for the very wealthy. Protected by the fierce Secretary Rhodes (Foster), Elysium's only threat is illegal immigration from the surface. And that's what factory worker Max (Damon) wants to attempt after severe radiation poisoning. Even having a nurse (Braga) for a friend doesn't help him get proper care: he needs the high tech medicine on Elysium to survive. He turns to black-marketeer Spider (Moura) for help, and Spider fits Max with a devise that gives him physical strength plus technology to steal vital information from an Elysium contractor (Fichtner). So Rhodes unleashes sleeper agent Kruger (Copley) to stop Max.
Yes, the plot is somewhat convoluted, but the chaos makes it feel much more realistic than the more simplistic thrillers we usually see. It also helps that the digital effects feel so seamlessly integrated into the shaky-cam mayhem of the favelas, while even the more grandly photographed Elysium leaves the effects in the background. This allows Blomkamp to keep the focus on the characters, even if the splintering plot never draws us in emotionally. Braga's plotline is clearly designed to tug at the heart-strings, but her tentative romance with Max never goes anywhere. Max's friendship with Julio (Luna) is much more interesting.

It's the year 2154 and Max Da Costa is living in the densely populated, crime and war ravaged wasteland that is the planet Earth. Meanwhile, the rich and the privileged live on an orbital settlement in space called Elysium which boasts perfect landscapes, no poverty and medical advancements that can eliminate illnesses such as cancer in half a second. Despite Earth being a disease-stricken planet with little resources to go around, Secretary Rhodes is vehemently strict with her immigration laws disallowing anyone of a lower class to be allowed into their utopia even in the case of the most serious of illnesses. An ailing Max is determined to survive, however, even if it means embarking on a highly dangerous mission to break into the highly guarded space habitat and retrieve medical resources that could save him and the rest of the suffering population.
