Whitey Bulger (Johnny Depp) was one of the most brutal and violent criminals in Boston, being the secret puppet master behind one of the most dangerous crime families in history.
Based on the book 'Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob' by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill, 'Black Mass' is an upcoming film from director Scott Cooper ('Crazy Heart', 'Out of the Furnace'), and adapted for film by screenwriters Jez Butterworth ('Edge of Tomorrow', 'Get on Up') and Mark Mallouk in his debut screenwriting role. Principle photograph began on 19th May 2014 in Boston, and continued until 1st August 2011. 'Black Mass' is set for release in the US on 18th September 2015, before opening in the UK on 25th September 2015.
