A 'Finding Nemo' sequel has been confirmed.

Director Andrew Stanton - who was at the helm for the original computer-animated movie in 2003, which saw Ellen Degeneres, Albert Brooks and Willem Dafoe lend their voice to the project - has signed up to make a follow up to the Pixar classic.

Victoria Strouse is to write The Script for the film and Lindsey Collins will produce, but no further plot details have been revealed, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is currently expected to be released in 2016 and could be a return to safer ground for Andrew - who has helmed computer animations 'WALL-E' and co-directed 1999's 'A Bug's Life' - after 'John Carter' flopped at the box office earlier this year.

A sequel to 'Finding Nemo' - which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Picture and is Pixar's second-highest grossing movie ever after 'Toy Story 3' - is expected to take up much of Andrew's time for the next four years.

According to Deadline, Pixar and Disney executives are said to be thrilled about Andrew's concept for the follow up movie.
