Frank Darabont, the creator of The Walking Dead, is in early talks to direct Snow White and the Huntsman 2 for Universal Pictures and Roth Films though the movie will focus on Chris Hemsworth and not Kristen Stewart, who will make a cameo at the very most.

According to The Wrap, Darabont has not received an official offer yet but is expected to agree as soon as one materializes. It is believed he beat out Gavin O'Connor (Warrior) and Andy Muschietti (Mama) for the gig.

Certain shows rely on one very specific aspect to make them what they are. Breaking Bad needed Walt to establish a meth empire, Buffy the Vampire Slayer needed a few vampires for her to slay, Orange is the New Black sort of needs to be set in a prison (a sewing club doesn't have quite the same lure), but The Walking Dead? Nah, that should be fine with no zombies. Oh, hang on.

So, it turns out that an NBC exec actually vetoed the project, well, because, he wasn’t quite sure if the show needed zombies. The Walking Dead creators Frank Darabont and Robert Kirkman explained to Jim Rash on Sundance’s The Writer’s Room: “[The Walking Dead] actually almost did almost get made at NBC. It didn’t get made when the pilot was turned in, the famous story is one of the executives said, ‘This is awesome. I really love this . Does it have to have zombies in it?’”

Frank Darabont has filed a lawsuit against entertainment company AMC Networks after he claims that he was cheated out of tens of millions of dollars in profits. Darabont, the creator of hit AMC zombie drama The Walking Dead, has alleged that AMC breached his contract in not paying him the profits owed. Since Darabont was ditched from the show in 2011, The Walking Dead has gone on to be one of the most popular shows on television.

Despite this runaway success, Darabont has yet to receive any money as a participant in the profits. Yesterday (17th Dec.), Darabont and his agency CAA filed a lawsuit against AMC, accusing the network in "self dealing" by setting an "an unconscionably low license fee formula" for the series it also produces as well as employing questionable accounting practices thus depriving profit participants of compensation, according to Deadline.

When Frank Darabont was fired from The Walking Dead by its network AMC there was confusion surrounding his exit and neither party seemed willing to comment on why he had been ousted, with AMC in particular keeping quiet on the axing. More than two year later and it seems as though Darabont is still hung up about his axing from the show, so he has done like all Americans do when faced in a seemingly unfair situation; he sued.

Since he was ousted from the show Darabont has been replaced by showrunners Glen Mazzara and Scott M. Gimple

On Tuesday, 17 December, Darabont filed a law suit again AMC at a New York court, with the series creator claiming for unpaid profit in his lawsuit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, who gained access to the legal documents, Daramont and AMC have been locked in a stalemate over profits since February 2011, with the papers hinting that Daramont may have been fired over this payment dispute. It seems that, as series creator, Daramont is after some of AMC's profit margin earned by the show, with the cable company unwilling to give him a single cent since the dispute began in 2011.

It’s no secret that Darabont’s exit from AMC’s The Walking Dead – their marquee show, despite owning Breaking Bad and Mad Men, with phenomenal viewing figures – damaged the show. Fans noticed a dip in quality, some more than others. This humble writer fell right out of love with it. So the news that Frank is back on the small screen – a trajectory he sees many actors making, for very good reasons – is very good indeed.

Mob City is filmmaker Frank Darabont's take on the novel L.A. Noir: The Struggle For The Soul Of America’s Most Seductive City - a detailed account of post-World War II Los Angeles gripped by corrupt police and a rampant organised crime network. On Tuesday (13 August) TNT announced that the show will be airing on the network on Wednesday 4 December, also revealing a shiny new title and a shiny new trailer to go with the announcement.

The show - originally title Lost Angels - follows the mostly fact-based story of Los Angeles darkest periods; a time when a corrupt police force do little to curtail the gains of the violent criminal world it should be controlling, as it further cements LA as the hub of organised criminal activity on the West Coast. Arriving in the city to free it from this scourge of criminal activity is Police Chief William Parker (Neal McDonough), who has made it his mission to make Los Angeles a city where people can feel safe to walk the streets again.

TNT have announced a thoroughly impressive line-up for their fall programming schedule, with Frank Darabont's Lost Angels standing out as one of the most hotly anticipated shows on the list. The show is based primarily on the John Buntin book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City, the true story of the LAPD's decades-long conflict with crime lord Mickey Cohen.
Like the book, Lost Angels is set in set in 1940s and ’50s Los Angeles, when the LAPD was even more corrupt than it is now and the criminal underworld was much closer to the surface of the city than even the most corrupt cops would have wanted. The series executives have maintained that it will remain as true to the book as possible, but will also explore elements of the criminal world that are overlooked in the book, notably the African-American and Hispanic culture that were becoming more prominent by the 1950's.

Jon Bernthal will star in the series

The true-crime series already has an impressive cast lined up for the show, including Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal, playing a former Marine returning from the Second World War, as well as Jeffrey DeMunn, also of Walking Dead fame, and Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia as fellow LAPD officers. Shaun of the Dead and Star Trek star Simon Pegg has also lined up for a guest appearance in the series. A Mickey Cohen has yet to be cast, although River Alexander has been lined up to star as a child version of the gangster in flashback scenes.
Also heading to TNT's programming line-up is S.O.B. (Save Our Business), an reality makeover series featuring entrepreneur and American Inventor star Peter Jones, and Marshal Law: Texas, the latest TV project from Jerry Bruckheimer.

The Walking Dead midseason finale on Sunday (Dec 2, 2012) further enforced AMC's popular zombie drama/thriller as one of the most successful shows on television today, with a massive 10.5 million viewers tuning in, only to be left with an un-dead like appetite for more. 

This might not mean much to you 18-49 year-olds, but you; you're part of a key demographic. TV networks love you, and 6.9m of you have been watching The Walking Dead, which makes them very happy. We can't imagine many 50 year olds watching the sometimes gruesome drama, so we can only surmise that you under 18's are filling up on some pretty dark stuff. The impressive figures from Sunday's cliff-hanger were slightly less than October's third-season premiere but up 58 percent compared with season two's midseason finale. In fact, October's premiere scored 10.9 million total viewers, making it the highest-rated episode in series history, up more than 50 percent from its record-breaking season two premiere. 

"Representing both the studio and the network as AMC does on this project, I speak for so many when I say 'thank you and congratulations' to everyone involved," AMC presidentCharlie Collier said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "The records that The Walking Dead shattered today represent an enormous achievement of which we are so proud."

Frank Darabont’s L.A Noir has been picked up by TNT for a pilot and a 6 episode series, according to The Wrap.
