Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody is auctioning a guitar to raise money for a little girl battling cancer.
The rocker offered up the signed Gretsch guitar after meeting 11-year-old cancer patient Vanessa Riddle backstage at a concert in Glasgow, Scotland on Friday (27Jan12).
Riddle had just been released from hospital that day after a round of treatment for neuroblastoma, and was thrilled with Lightbody's offer.
The instrument is expected to pull in $8,000 (£5,000) for Riddle, who needs $32,000 (£20,000) for a life-saving operation in the U.S.
Lightbody says, "It's a big sum of money Vanessa has to try and raise and we're trying to help as much as possible. I hope on the right night at the right auction that people will spend a lot on the guitar."
