The Love at First Bite star, 76, reveals he underwent an operation to replace a valve in his heart in early April (16), after experiencing health issues.

The procedure made Hamilton consider his own mortality, but he is confident he won't be going anywhere for decades and he is determined to continue acting for years to come.

"It was an extraordinary experience because you get a real grasp on who you've been and where you want to go," he tells People magazine of his surgery.

"My whole set of values changed," continues Hamilton, who features in new movie The Congressman. "It's an amazing difference in my health and the way I feel, I feel like I'm 20 years younger! (The surgery) was one month ago, and I'm back to exercising and doing all the things I want to do."

The heart operation gave the actor a new perspective on life and he is excited about his new future.

He adds, "It really brings home a sense to do something important and enjoy your life, and it gives you the health to feel like, 'What am I going to do now? I've got another 30 or 40 years left.' So I'm thinking 100 is going to be the new 50."
