Hailee Steinfeld was excited and nervous about singing in 'Pitch Perfect 2'.

The 18-year-old actress, who plays a member of the acapela group the Barden Bellas in the new comedy, admits she has a new appreciation for people who get on stage and perform.

She said: ''I was equally excited as I was nervous. Singing has always been something that I love, but I've never taken it any further than the shower. You don't realise how hard it is.''

The actress also embraced the opportunity to show off her dance moves.

She said: ''I wouldn't consider myself a big dancer by any means, but it's something I like to do, so I just jumped right in. it was very cool to feel like one [a dancer] for a minute.''

Hailee was a huge fan of the first film and instantly formed a close bond with her cast-mates.

The Oscar-nominated star told People magazine: ''As a fan I felt like I knew all of the girls already. The fact that I'm in the second one is so cool.

''Sometimes when you are on set all day long with some people, the last thing you want to do is see them over the weekend. But it never felt like that with us. We had movie nights and viewing parties for 'The Bachelor'. It was awesome.''
