The vinyl list has been released for this year's Record Store Day, which will be celebrated by 240 independent music shops throughout the UK with over 600 exclusive releases available. More big-name acts than ever before have lent their music to the unique event, which is designed to save the nation's record shops from the threat of online shopping and big corporations.

Placebo, Green Day, Outkast, Bombay Bicycle Club, Chvrches, Disclosure, Dinosaur Jr, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Jake Bugg, The Flaming Lips, Elbow, Fleetwood Mac, Haim, Richard Hawley, and Johnny Cash represent just a handful of the most high profile LP or EP releases this year with an eclectic range of genres for music fans to flick through.

Record Store Day UK co-ordinator Spencer Hickman said: "When I held the first Record Store Day in the UK seven years ago I never dreamt that the event would grow so huge. From having five shops take part in the first year with no products - to today where we have 240 shops and over 600 exclusive releases. "It is testament to their enduring quality- the people who work in, the customers that shop in them and the amazing music to which that they have introduced generations of people," he added, via Gigwise.

Shops will throw open their doors on the morning of April 19th (a Saturday) for shoppers to burst in and pick up some priceless releases before they all sell out. Metal music has an especially strong representation on the list this year, with such delights as Cannibal Corpse, Slipknot, Bathory, Carcass/Cerebral Bore, Korn and plenty of others preparing to tear your record player to pieces.
Fans of disbanded groups or deceased artists should get excited too: as well as an exclusive Cash release, there'll also be music from The Byrds, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Nina Simone and The Grateful Dead to look forward to.
