Ahead of the festive season Katy Perry is back to announce that "dreams do come true" as she releases a warm and mellow cover of The Beatles classic - 'All You Need Is Love'. The 'Roar' singer's version of 'All You Need Is Love' was recorded for a new Gap holiday advertisement that not only features the song but also features Perry herself.
Taking to Instagram to talk about the collaboration Katy posted - "From folding sweatshirts at the Santa Barbara Gap to 20 years later, starring in a @markromanek-directed holiday campaign, dreams do come true! 'Firework' artist Perry added that "@gap is also helping to make dreams come true for @baby2baby, Starting today, Gap is donating $1 per @spotify stream of my version of the song featured in the Gap ad - up to $100,000 USD - to support @baby2baby’s mission to provide basic essentials to children living in poverty across the country. Spotify was also on Katy's mind when she announced that she would be taking up a Las Vegas residency at the Resorts World Casino from New Year's Eve onwards. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine Perry explained how she had chosen the songs for her future shows - "When we had a meeting the other day, I was like ‘OK guys, tell me my top 20 Spotify songs,’...That’s my setlist."
Not only will Katy Perry be performing live in Las Vegas in 2022 she has also shared plans for her first set of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) that are being launched to coincide with her casino shows. Katy Perry has joined forces with the Theta Network ("an open-source scheme that provides diverse media resources to its users") to launch her very own NFT's. Talking about the "unique opportunity" Katy said - "I’m both excited and curious to be launching my first ever NFTs later this year with Theta Network. This is a new, unique opportunity to connect with my fans around the world even if they aren’t with me in Las Vegas."
No details have yet been given as to the nature of Katy's NFT's but you could always add them to your Christmas list, you never know what Santa may bring!
