LaToya Jackson is ''grateful'' for the concern for her niece Paris.

The 15-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson reportedly tried to commit suicide by cutting her wrists at her home in Calabasas on Wednesday (05.06.13) and while LaToya appreciates the support shown to the family by the public, she has asked for privacy while they try to deal with the shocking incident.

She told E! News: ''We are grateful and appreciate the overwhelming concern for Paris from both the public and the media, but request privacy at this time while our family handles these issues together.''

Paris previously paid tribute to LaToya for backing her decision to pursue an acting career, after it was revealed some members of her family were unhappy with her decision to take on a role in fantasy film 'Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys'.

She said: ''A lot of people don't want me to do it, but Aunt LaToya believes in me. She heard me play a little guitar and sing, and she started clapping, 'Oh my God, oh my God.'

''She really does encourage me; it's just awesome of her.''
