He accepted One Direction's Brit Award for Best Video with bandmate Liam Payne at the ceremony, and spoke about fatherhood and 'The X Factor' beforehand.
Louis Tomlinson has opened up about fatherhood, describing being a dad to his newborn son Freddie as “intense” but “exciting”.
The 24 year old One Direction singer attended the Brit Awards in London on Wednesday night (February 24th) and accepted the prize for Best Video, as voted for by the public, for last year’s single ‘Drag Me Down’.
In 2016, Tomlinson has been getting to grips with first-time fatherhood since his ex-girlfriend Brianna Jungwirth gave birth to their son, Freddie Reign, back in January. Speaking to ITV2 outside the O2 Arena, he said that “[Fatherhood] is good. It's intense. It's really exciting. This is my first time away from Freddie so it's tough.”
Only Tomlinson and bandmate Liam Payne attended the Brits, with Harry Styles and Niall Horan opting to sit out the public engagement, and Louis joked before the ceremony that if they won they might flog their absent bandmates’ awards. “If we win who gets their awards? We could sell them!”

He and Payne seem to have been collaborating during One Direction’s hiatus. “We've been doing a bit of writing out in L.A., it's been really fun,” Liam said. “I've been in the studio, he's got different things on the horizon.”

In the wake of recent speculation, the pre-ceremony interviews inevitably turned to the question of the vacant ‘x factor’ judging panel spot after Nick Grimshaw quit the show last week. Tomlinson has been mooted as the favoured replacement in Simon Cowell’s eyes, and the singer admitted that he would be interested if he was formally approached.
“Of course, it's really exciting,” he told The Sun in a separate conversation. “We've had no official conversation yet. But yeah, I mean, why wouldn't I?”
Tomlinson made a guest appearance in the judges’ house round of last year’s much-maligned series, as he helped Cowell himself choose his acts.
