The band - completed by James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo - are staging their own festival, Orion Music + More, in New Jersey in the US, and Lars said they are hoping to capture the same kind of feel as European festivals and export it.
He added: ''We were invited to play Bonaroo in 2008 and that was the first time we saw the European festival model work In America, the whole thing was a total mindf**k, it was great - it was us.
''The people were really accepting towards Diversity, so it was back then we started thinking about doing our own thing. We really want to have that kind of European diversity and that sense of Discovery.''
''It's going to be a pretty full f***ing three days! But having your own festival, it's a pretty cool thing.''
