Blake Fielder Denies Responsibility For Amy Winehouse's Decline And Death

Amy Winehouse Blake Fielder-Civil Mitch Winehouse

Blake Fielder, the former husband of the late Amy Winehouse, has denied that he “ruined” the singer’s life and rejected suggestions that he was responsible for her decline into addiction.

Winehouse, who died in 2011 at the age of 27, was married to Fielder (known then as Blake Fielder-Civil) from 2007 for two years, and the pair continued an on-off relationship for a couple of years afterwards despite the breakdown of the marriage. Fielder, now 33, is often blamed for introducing the Back To Black singer to hard drugs and beginning her spiral into substance and alcohol abuse.

Asif Kapadia, the director of the imminently released documentary about Amy Winehouse, has defended himself against criticisms made by the late singer’s father Mitch. Winehouse passed away in July 2011 at the age of 27, and Kapadia’s new movie Amy focusses on her early years and her rise to fame as well as the tragic end to her life.

Last month, Mitch Winehouse revealed that he had ordered the film to be re-edited upon seeing its original cut, claiming that the documentary had an "agenda" and had ended up portraying him and the rest of his family in “the worst possible light”.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation Gears Up For Fundraising Ball, Featuring Jamie Cullum

The Amy Winehouse Foundation is preparing for its first major fundraising event. Sky News report that the organisation is gearing up for the Amy Winehouse Foundation Ball at the Dorchester Hotel.

Calling upon his daughter’s many contacts in the recording industry, Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse is helping to promote the event, which will feature performances from Jamie Cullum, Matt Goss and Amy’s friend (and former contestant on the Voice), Tyler James.

The money raised will be used to help disadvantaged young people; something that Mitch explained was very important to Amy. He recalls how he once asked Amy who a girl was, in her flat and Amy replied that the girl was homeless and that she was helping her out. She stayed with Amy for around six months.

Amy Winehouse's Wedding Dress Stolen Prior To Auction

Amy Winehouse Mitch Winehouse

The wedding dress belonging to the late Amy Winehouse has been snatched from her home in Camden, London where the singer passed away last year.

The dress was white cotton with anchors detailing it and was worn when the singer married her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil  in 2007 on Miami Beach, Florida. According to Amy's father Mitch, the dress was one of the less valuable items in terms of price that remained at her house. 'We are all baffled as to why some of her designer dresses didn't go too. There were a couple from Dolce & Gabbana worth a fortune', he told The Sun. 'Her wedding dress was only a little cotton thing, a hundred quid at best in the shops.' The frock, however, was an item of great sentimental value and was due to be auctioned off for charity at an expected £100,000. 'Whoever nicked it realised its significance and knew it had an extra value', Mitch continued. 'It's sickening that someone would steal something in the knowledge of its sentimental value.'

Another dress was also stolen from the house; a newspaper print cocktail dress that the 'Rehab' hit maker wore on 'Jools Holland's Later show'. That outfit was thought to go for £30,000 at auction.

Thieves Steal Amy Winehouse's Wedding Dress From Camden Home

Amy Winehouse's family and friends have been left devastated after thieves raided the late singer's Camden home, taking off with £130,000 worth of dresses, including the gown she wore on her wedding day in 2006. Several of the pieces were set to be auctioned in New York later this year to raise money for the family's charity The Amy Winehouse Foundation.

According to the London Evening Standard, a newsprint cocktail dress that she famously wore on the Jools Holland show in 2006 was also taken from the house, where she died last year. The wedding dress had a predicted value of $100,000, while the 'Jools' dress would have raised around £30,000. Amy's father Mitch said he was "baffled" as to why the thieves had not gone for the more valuable designer dresses, saying, "Her wedding dress was only a little cotton thing, a hundred quid at best in the shops. Whoever nicked it realised its significance and knew it had an extra value." In theory he's right, though the designer dresses would no doubt have been easier to sell-on. The dress she wore on the Jools Holland show is pretty recognisable and - like famous works of art - has a decent chance of showing up eventually. Mitch added, "It's sickening that someone would steal something in the knowledge of its sentimental value."

The Grammy award winning singer was found dead on July 23, last year. Traces of the alcohol withdrawal drug Librium were found in her body, though there were no signs of illegal drugs.
