Nicholas Brendon, the actor best known for his role as Xander in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has been arrested. The 43-year-old was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday evening (14th March). Brendon reportedly called police to report his wallet had been stolen. The police responded to Brendon's hotel room and found the room in disarray. Brendon had seemingly flipped the bed and smashed a mirror. His wallet was allegedly in the room.

Brendon was charged with criminal mischief. Hotel staff members claimed Brendon had been drinking and taking pills. They noted that a pill box in Brendon's possession had been filled with 10 pills earlier in the day but, by evening, only contained one.

This is the second time the actor has been arrested in as many months. Brendon was arrested in February in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after he reportedly destroyed property in a hotel room. He was charged with grand theft after he refused to pay the $450 damages and $350 in food and beverage charges.

The incidents appear to be linked to Brendon's substance abuse issues, which he addressed after a similar incident in October 2014. Brendon checked into rehab a couple of days after causing a disturbance in an Idaho hotel. Brendon apologised for his behaviour and his representative released a statement.

"Nicholas is, unfortunately, battling a disease that many of us don't understand," his rep said in February. "We are working with him to improve upon the situation at hand and look toward the future."

TMZ first reported the news.
