Early Man Trailer

From were-rabbits to sabre-toothed bunny rabbits, Nick Park returns with a Stone Age adventure featuring characters in the world's favourite stop-motion animation style. But sabre-toothed bunnies are not, of course, the only creatures these cave men and women have to worry about; this is a time when prehistoric beasts like dinosaurs and woolly mammoths are roaming everywhere. Soon though, one brave caveman named Dug along with his pet warthog Hognob decides he must bring his rather timid tribe together if he wants to save them from one major nemesis which threatens the peace of their lives for good; the dastardly Bronze Age. But, unexpectedly, that battle soon turns into modern day football.

'Shaun The Sheep' Has 100% On Rotten Tomatoes. It's The Best Film Ever.

Nick Park

As movie critic Mark Kermode puts it: there's two things you can rely on in the movie world: Disney and Woody Allen. There's a serious argument to add Aardman Animations to that list and the studio's latest movie, the modestly marketed Shaun the Sheep, hits cinemas in the UK this weekend and it currently holds a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Shaun the SheepShaun the Sheep is critically acclaimed

We last saw Shaun in the 1995 short film A Close Shave and in an episode from the 2002 Wallace and Gromit's Cracking Contraptions series. This time, his mischievousness leads to the Farmer being taken away from the farm, leaving Shaun, Bitzer and the flick heading to the big city to rescue him.

Want To Bring Back 'Morph'? Then Back The Kickstarter Campaign!

Nick Park Zoe Ball

Tapping into the nostalgia gland of anyone brought up in the 70s and 80s, a Kickstarter campaign from Aardman Animation – the creator’s of Wallace and Gromit – promises to bring back the lovable clay-constituted Morph, should they raise enough money.

The cheeky little fella will be back in 12 new one-minute episodes using the traditional clay and stop-frame animation if the required £75,000 is collected. It comes after news that Aardman are developing a Shaun the Sheep movie.

“We plan to make a series of all new Morph episodes and we’d love you, his loyal fans, and maybe also you, his new fans, we’d love you to be involved,” reads the Kickstarter blurb. “But we don’t want to second guess what you want. Get involved in the production. Contribute ideas, gags. Tell us what you want to see.”

Organisers of Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal left shocked after more than £2.3 million was raised for charity following the Gromit auction in Bristol.

World's Greatest Effects Guru Ray Harryhausen Dies Aged 92

Ray Harryhausen Nick Park Steven Spielberg George Lucas James Cameron

Ray Harryhausen, a visual effects guru often considered to have been the finest in the movie business, has died aged 92. Best known for his pioneering work on Star Wars, Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans, Harryhausen made his models by hand and shot them frame by frame to create some of the best-know sequences in cinema.

The technique was taken up by the likes of Nick Park, co-creator of the Wallace & Gromit movies who called Harryhausen "one of the true greats" this week. Star Wars creator George Lucas said that without him "there would likely have been no Star Wars." Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright said, "I loved every single frame of Ray Harryhausen's work.He was the man who made me believe in monsters."

Harryhausen's finest moment came when he animated seven skeletons who came to life in Jason and the Argonauts - a sequence that took three months to film, according to BBC News.

Chicken Run Review

Essential
Since the beginning of time (or at least the domestication of animals), the chicken has been man's feathered enigma. Like so many of its feathered friends, it has fallen into the realm of the metaphor (i.e. "He's a chicken."). Unlike so many of its edible counterparts, it has survived the hassles of religious communities unscathed (no one will persecute you for eating a chicken wing). It has found its way into the realm of ontological questions (which came first: the chicken or the egg), as well as into sanguine curiosity (why does a chicken continue running around after you cut its head off?). It has become the basic standard for all foods (tastes like chicken). It has changed with the times, entering the debate about genetic engineering (see the accusations against KFC using frank-n-roosters). It has even, through its progeny, entered into the world of our children (I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I am). As long as civilization has existed, the chicken has haunted our collective hubris with its often-charming idiocy.

Amongst both edible entrees and feathered friends, the chicken is the idiot God...
