Ryan Lochte Gets Engaged To Girlfriend Kayla Rae Reid

She's stuck by him through his difficult year.
This year hasn't been the easiest for disgraced Olympian Ryan Lochte, but he's making sure it ends on a good note by announcing his engagement to Playboy model Kayla Rae Reid. He's only been dating her for a little over 8 months, but those eight months have been turbulent for Ryan.

It seems the gold-medal winning swimmer popped the question last night (October 9th 2016). He posted a snap of himself kissing his future wife on social media, a huge rock of a diamond sitting proudly on Kayla's ring finger. 'Memories forever!!! #thelochtes #LA', he captioned the image. Kayla posted another photo from the same evening in response, writing: 'Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU.'
It was only last week that Ryan was discussing his plans for marriage with USA Today. 'My family says, 'Don't you think it's a little too soon?' I'm like, 'Can you put a time on love? Can you?'' He said. 'When I realized this was 'the one' was when she stuck behind me through this.'
Indeed, Kayla has been standing firmly behind her man all year. During his performance at the Summer Olympics in Brazil, his subsequent trouble with the police when he lied about getting mugged during a drunken night out with his friends, Speedo then dropping him from their lucrative advertising campaign, and his spot on 'Dancing With The Stars' which was at one point stormed by protestors arguing that he shouldn't be allowed to compete on the reality show following his conduct in Brazil.

Kayla deserves a damn diamond ring after all that. A lot of women would run, especially given that they have only been dating since January. They met at Bootsy Bellows nightclub in Hollywood, where Ryan immediately grabbed her hand and later looked her up on Instagram.
'From the very first time I met her, everything has like clicked', he said. 'That's why I know I can propose to her because everything that's happened and she's been keeping me so positive. She doesn't care about my fame. She doesn't care about anything. All she cares about is me being happy.'
