A Motorcycle Once Owned By Legendary Actor Steve McQueen Sold For More Than $95,000 (£59,000) At An Auction In England On Sunday (18oct15).
The 1934 Indian Sport Scout 750cc bike was one of a collection of classic motorcycles available to buy at Bonhams' autumn sale in Stafford.
The vintage bike, which was specifically restored for MCQueen by famous mechanic Kenny Howard, was estimated to sell for between $88,000-$104,000 (£55,000-£65,00), with its eventual selling price of $95,584 (£59,740) falling in the middle of that range.
MCQueen was well known in Hollywood as a motorbike and car fanatic, competing in bike races and performing his own stunts in films.
One of the Hollywood star's most famous movie moments came when he jumped a barbed wire fence on a Triumph motorcycle fleeing Nazis in classic 1963 war film The Great Escape.
The bike sold for considerably less than a Porsche owned by the Bullitt star, which fetched $1.95 million (£1.22 million) in August this year (15).
