John Carter may have become the biggest box-office flop in Hollywood history, but its star, Taylor Kitsch, has no regrets about having appeared in it. "I'm very proud of John Carter," he told Entertainment Weekly magazine. "Box office doesn't validate me as a person or as an actor." He does have one regret about the film's failure -- and that it is that it makes it virtually certain that director Andrew Stanton's two planned sequels to the Edgar Rice Burroughs tale will never be filmed. "I d love to go do John Carter 2 ," he told the magazine. "I really would. It's just s***ty I don't get to work with the [ John Carter ] family. It really was a special thing." Kitsch did not come out of the disaster unscathed. Several reviewers criticized what they called his wooden performance as being at the heart of the film's problems and expressed surprise, given his appealing performance on the TV series Friday Night Lights . He certainly has a chance to overcome those reviews when he costars in another big-budget effects-driven blockbuster, Battleship , which is being released in the U.K. on April 11 and in the U.S. on May 18, and in Oliver Stone's Savages , due out on July 6.
