The Greatest Showman Trailer

When P. T. Barnum (Hugh Jackman) loses his business when the company goes bankrupt, he's left to search for another job to keep a roof, albeit a leaking one, over his head. He just wants a better life for his wife Charity (Michelle Williams) and children, and one day has the most fantastic idea of open Barnum's American Museum of Curiosity. Soon he puts together a travelling circus, a freak show featuring giants and dwarves, Siamese twins and bearded ladies. But for him it isn't about exploiting people who are different for the entertainment of the general public, it's about encouraging them to be part of a dance and acrobatic show to celebrate what's special about them. To many people today, there really is no difference between the two, but it's safe to say that his unique venture made Barnum the greatest showman who ever lived.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Review

Extraordinary

This may be the third reboot of this franchise in 15 years, risking audience exhaustion, but there are plenty of reasons not to miss this one. Most notably, this is the first Spider-Man movie that's part of Marvel's Avengers franchise, which places it in a larger story with lots of cameo possibilities. But more importantly, young British actor Tom Holland seems to have been born to play the role, infusing the entire film with cheeky teenage energy. And it's also one of the funniest, most complex blockbusters of the year.

The film opens with overexcited home videos Peter Parker (Holland) made of his adventure with the Avengers in Civil War. Now he's plunged back to the dull reality of being a high school student living with his sparky Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). He has a crush on classmate Liz (Laura Harrier), but faces rivalry from the school's alpha male Flash (Tony Revolori). And after a night out playing superhero in his Spider-Man costume, his nerdy best pal Ned (Jacob Batalon) is a bit too thrilled to discover his secret alter-ego. Meanwhile, Peter is annoyed that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and his assistant Happy (Jon Favreau) are ignoring his calls, especially after he warns them that he has seen winged bad guy Toomes (Michael Keaton) dealing illegal alien weapons around New York while plotting something nefarious.

Director Jon Watts (Cop Car) cleverly maintains a nimble teen perspective throughout the film, which makes it feel more like a comedy than an action movie. And instead of snarky one-liners, the laughs come from character-based humour, most notably Holland's brilliant reactions to everything that comes along. One memorable sequence, which kicks off the final onslaught of action, is both hilarious and terrifying at the same time, perfectly balanced thanks to a knowing revelation, Watts' subtle direction and Holland's hugely engaging performance. And each breathtaking action set-piece pushes the character forward in positive ways.

Jon Watts Praises Zendaya's Work On 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

Zendaya Coleman

Hitting movie theatres at the beginning of next month, 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' will serve as the first solo film for the web-slinging superhero in which the titular character is a part of the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Tom Holland's portrayal of Spidey already introduced in recent MCU flick 'Captain America: Civil War', fans have already been given a taste of what to expect from the wise-cracking hero.

It's fair to say that the history of Spider-Man movies is a little all over the place. The original trilogy was for the most part a big success, with actor Tobey Maguire heading up proceedings. Then came the two 'Amazing Spider-Man' films with Andrew Garfield, which didn't do quite as well. Now, Holland takes over the superhero mantle, and whilst his success remains to be seen, an opening weekend of $100 million is expected in the US alone. It's looking likely this version of Spider-Man could be the most beloved to-date.

Zendaya "Shocked" By Photoshopped Images After Fashion Shoot

Zendaya Coleman

A fashion magazine has withdrawn images of Zendaya Coleman after she criticised editors for digitally enhancing a photoshoot to make her hips and torso slimmer, and for portraying an “unrealistic” image of female beauty.

The 19 year old model and Disney actress, who has long been an advocate for positive body image, took part in a photoshoot for Modeliste magazine in Puerto Vallarta earlier in October, and said that she was “shocked” when she was sent the final images only to find they had been manipulated to make her look thinner.
