Comedian Amy Schumer is opening for Madonna when the singer performs for three nights in New York later this year. Schumer, who is best known for her Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer, will be an opening act for Madonna on 16th and 17th September at Madison Square Garden and at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on 19th September.

Schumer announced her exciting news via Twitter on Thursday (18th June).

“Guess who auditioned for Madonna and got the part? See you in NYC on Sept 16, 17 and 19,” Schumer wrote. The 34-year-old also added a video of her pre-teen self singing Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’, showing her long term status as a true Madonna fan. It’s pretty adorable!

Schumer’s performances will be at the start of Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour. The tour opens on 9th September in Montreal, Canada before Madonna heads to Washington D.C. for one night then on to New York. 

Over the last few months, Madonna has ramped up her promotional material for her Rebel Heart tour and she recently released a new single, ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’. The video is certainly star studded and features cameos from the likes of Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and Rita Ora. 

Schumer’s schedule is going to be pretty busy for the next year. She’s currently doing promotional rounds for Trainwreck, a film in which she stars and penned the script for. The film, directed by Judd Apatow (This Is 40), also stars Tilda Swinton and Bill Hader.
