In yet another demonstration of the robustness of the Hispanic market, Nielsen reported on Wednesday that Univision's KMEX-TV was the top-rated station in the Los Angeles market among adults 18-49 during the May sweeps. The station's telenovelas -- limited-run soap operas -- drew greater numbers of viewers than those for KTTV, the Fox-owned outlet in Los Angeles, which aired American Idol, House, and Glee and the ABC-owned KABC-TV, which aired Dancing With The Stars and the final episode of Lost during the sweeps period. KMEX's 6 00 p.m. news block ranked second in the ratings among younger viewers, edged out by KABC-TV. Among viewers 18-34, KMEX was the most-watched TV station in the entire U.S.
