A Super Bowl commercial starring Carl Weathers has been amended following the actor's death.

The 'Rocky' star died "peacefully in his sleep" on Thursday (01.02.24), aged 76, and FanDuel - an online sports betting firm - has now announced that it's adjusted its Super Bowl commercial ahead of the big game in Las Vegas on February 11.

In a statement given to PEOPLE, the company said: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Carl Weathers.

"Throughout his life, Carl was an iconic talent who had a profound impact on the people he worked with on and off the screen."

FanDuel plans to amend the commercial as a mark of "respect" for the actor's family.

The statement continued: "FanDuel was fortunate to have had an opportunity to work with him during our Super Bowl campaign.

"We are adjusting our campaign accordingly out of respect for the family during their time of grief."

Meanwhile, Sylvester Stallone has already taken to social media to pay tribute to his former co-star.

The late actor starred as Apollo Creed in the 'Rocky' film franchise, and Stallone admitted that he played a huge part in his own success.

Stallone, 77, said in a video posted on Instagram: "Hello everyone, today is an incredibly sad day for me. I'm so torn up I can't even tell you. I'm just trying to hold it in because ... Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life, my success, everything about it.

"I give him incredible credit and kudos because ... when he walked into that room and I saw him for the first time, I saw greatness. But I didn't realise how great. I never could've accomplished what we did with 'Rocky' without him."
