The only thing worse than Jessie J’s attention seeking antics on BBC’s flailing talent show franchise, The Voice, is Danny O’Donoghue’s incessant showing off. So 'O’Donoghue quits The Voice' will have come as a welcome headline, and builds upon the positive news that Jessie-J stepped down, too.

The other two, Will.i.am and Tom Jones aren’t bad; the legendary Welsh singer must be wondering exactly what he’s doing, but when he checks his bank statement, he’ll soon remember.

"I gave it my heart and soul and couldn't be more proud of the show," O’Donoghue said in a statement. BBC controller Mark Linsey said O'Donoghue was "an absolute star" but understands he has to focus on his music career. "The Voice coaches are all current music stars with recording and touring careers to manage alongside the show and we know this can be difficult to juggle," he added.

This isn’t entirely good news, though. With Danny concentrating on his music, there will be more music from Danny. And that’s never a good thing. Universally known as one of the worst bands ever, The Script might even make an unwelcome return. "My focus will be on The Script moving forward as we are about to embark on the most important part of our career as a band," O'Donoghue said.

Well that confirms that then. To be fair to The Script, they were popular, but to quote the great man (Super Hans from Peep Show), “People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis…

You can’t trust people.”
