The first episode will be entitled 'The Red Woman'.
If, like us, you're part of the 'Jon Snow isn't really dead' collective, you may finally have your assurances dashed as HBO release the synopsis for the premiere of 'Game Of Thrones' season 6. A title has also been announced for the first episode, but there's nothing to suggest that Snow will be resurrected.
It seems Jon Snow really is dead
Kit Harington couldn't have been more clear when he insisted that his character was dead in recent promotional appearances, but it's still been difficult to believe. Now though, the official synopsis has been unveiled and it seems to confirm every 'Game Of Thrones' fan's worst fear.
'Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again', it reads. All seems extremely unambiguous, but of course, that doesn't mean that Jon Snow can't somehow come back to life. Like, with magic. Because, it's 'Game Of Thrones'. Even so, Harington insists the only appearances he's making in the new season are as a corpse.
'Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of season five, including Jon Snow's bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys' near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei's public humiliation in the streets of King's Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates', comes the new description of the series. 'Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.'
Still not giving much away, but we do know that the title of the first episode will be 'The Red Woman', which means that Melisandre will no doubt have a big part to play. She's just fled Stannis and his group after forcing him to burn his only child Shireen. A recent trailer for the show showed her looking apologetic and distraught that her prophetic visions have caused such carnage.
