Katherine Webb, the US model and beauty pageant queen, is engaged to footballer AJ McCarron. The couple announced their engagement via Twitter on Friday (28th March).

Webb uploaded a series of photographs taken at the moment McCarron proposed. The first picture showed the couple embracing whilst a large ring can be seen on Webb's hand. She later added pictures of the ring and, yesterday (29th March), of the engagement party.

The second picture Webb uploaded showed a large square diamond engagement ring with the added caption "He [McCarron] designed it himself". 

The couple have been dating since December 2012 but there have been rumours in the last six months suggesting McCarron had been unfaithful to his girlfriend. Whether these reports are true or not, the couple have evidently moved forward with their relationship and have decided to tie the knot!

Webb and McCarron evidently celebrated their engagement by hosting a party. The couple hosted a party at Fisher's, a restaurant at Orange Beach Marina in Alabama. Webb retweeted McCarron's thanks to the restaurant which he said the engagement party was "wonderful" and had the "best food and staff". 

Webb also thanked the company who created the bizarre mash-up cake which included a beauty pageant "Miss Alabama" sash; a football helmet; a traditional wedding cake; and a wedding ring box emblazoned with the words "Will you marry me?"
