Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Superhero Private Eye, Will Be Focus Of New Netflix Series

Jessica Jones, a lesser known Marvel superhero, is heading to Netflix. A show centering entirely on Jones will premiere on Netflix in November. The streaming service made the announcement on Thursday (10th September).

Jones is superhero who uses powers, including super strength and her ability to fly, to solve cases as a private eye. In the Marvel comics, she also works alongside the New Avengers.

Krysten Ritter, the actor best known for her roles in such television shows as Breaking Bad and Don't Trust the B***h in Apartment 23, stars as Jones.

The series also stars David Tennant as the villain, Kilgrave. Mike Coulter stars as Luke Gage, Jones’ love interest and, in the comics, future husband. According to NY Daily News, Coulter is also expected to star in a Luke Gage series, slated to be released on Netflix next year.

Other actors involved in the Jessica Jones series are Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Jessica Jones is the second Marvel based series for Netflix, following Daredevil which was released earlier this year.

In addition to Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Gage series, a fourth Marvel series focussing on Iron Fist is reportedly in the works. Reports suggest the four superheroes will become part of a Defenders series, following the suit of the hugely popular Avengers franchise and DC’s planned Justice League movies.

All 13 episodes of Jessica Jones will be released on Netflix on November 20th.
