Leann Rimes Whatever We Wanna Album

So, one of country's biggest divas heads into some middle of the road pop rock, a daring experiment only managed before by Faith Hill. And Shania Twain. And Ashlee Simpson. And, maybe The Dixie Chicks. Only 23, this is, remarkably, her ninth album, on top of records like the longest run in the Billboard charts with How Do I Live. There are a lot of people in the market for an album like this, and it keeps its audience happy with some up-beat pop, some ballads, some country and no challenge at all. Of its type, this is pretty good stuff. Rimes sings like some uber-X Factor winner, if a little short of real soul. She doesn't bring a whole load of character to the party, but Whatever We Wanna is listenable, pleasant and wholesome, and, unlike so much adult-oriented female singer-songwriter music these days, it doesn't pretend to be something it's not.
