Getaway Trailer

Brent Magna is a former racing driver who discovers that his wife has been kidnapped by an unknown man. The man is able to communicate with him (as well as watch him) and assures him that his wife will live as long as Brent does exactly what he's told. Thus, he embarks on a deadly race in a Shelby Cobra Mustang, knocking anything and everything out of his way while building a steady collection of cops on his tail. Things go awry when a young girl with a gun attempts to gain access to the car and Brent is forced to disarm her and take her with him to rescue his wife. Time is running out; he must provide the kidnapper with exactly what he wants while attempting to avoid getting caught on the way - otherwise, the show's over.

A Week In Movies 21st September 2012

Kylie Minogue turned up in London on Tuesday night for the red carpet premiere of her new movie Holy Motors, which opens next week in the UK and next month in the US. A hit at Cannes, the film is a surreal masterpiece that really does your head in. And Kylie's great in it.

A Week In Movies - 21st September 2012

Dredd - Still

The big release in the US this weekend is Dredd, which isn't actually a remake of the 1995 Sylvester Stallone action romp. It's a completely reimagined thriller based on the same series of comics, a surprisingly intelligent blockbuster, and a rare 18-certificate film that topped the UK box office chart a couple of weeks back.

Hard Boiled Sweets Trailer

Johnny is a former criminal who is pushed into an organised theft scheme against his better judgement. The plan is to seize one million pounds in cash from the affluent mob leader 'Shrewd' Eddie who has the money stashed in a briefcase and hidden at his home in Southend-on-Sea in Essex, England where he lives with his stunning young girlfriend Porsche. However, Johnny is not the only person set to snatch the wealth from the boss; a higher power in the shape of Jimmy The Gent of the London mob is set to steal back what is rightfully his along with seven other criminals, with none of them having a clue about the others.

This gritty British crime thriller rivals other mob movies of the nation including 'Snatch' and 'Love, Honour and Obey' with all the potential for just as much success. It has been written and directed by David L.G. Hughes in his first feature film whose previous experience in Essex mobster flicks come in the 'Hard Boiled Sweets' short prequel 'A Girl and A Gun' which features characters from the upcoming movie. HBS is set for release in the US from September 25th 2012 having premiered in the UK already back in March.

Starring: Elizabeth Berrington, Adrian Bower, Paul Freeman, Ian Hart & Danny Sapani.

A Fantastic Fear Of Everything Review

Good
Strikingly designed and directed, this offbeat film feels like a one-man stage show as the entire story's told through an internal monolog. So while we enjoy the witty, skilled acting and filmmaking, we never really care what happens.

After a career writing children's books, Jack (Pegg) is working on a screenplay about gruesome 19th century serial killers, which has left him a quivering wreck afraid to leave his Hackney flat. He ventures out for a meeting with his agent (Higgins), who sets up a meeting with a producer. But this will mean visiting the launderette, which is his greatest fear. As the nightmare escalates, Jack phones his mentor (Freeman) for help, then finds his fate eerily entwined with a local cop (Drake) and a woman (Karan) doing her laundry.

Jack is an author, a children's author at that, although this has never really been an ambition of his he just sort of fell into it. He decides to take the leap into becoming a crime author instead in an attempt to move slightly further away from his infantile profession and really try and make something of himself. The problem with this however is that Jack, to be minimize his personality, is a sensitive kind of guy. So when he becomes entombed by his research into Victorian serial killers he starts to turn into what can only be described as a paranoid wreck, persecuted by the irrational fear of being murdered.

Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers Review

Weak
This one's Halloween #6, made six years after Halloween 5 and decades after the series had totally died. Still, there are plenty of impalements (Michael Myers' favorite mode of death in this film) to keep our interest, and one line ("Michael Myers in space!?") is chuckle-worthy because all of his brethren would go there in the coming decade, including Jason. As a straight-up horror film, this continuation of the H-ween story revived in H4 and H5 -- Halloween III busted the series with a wholly unrelated tale -- is less about the gore and more about telling us why Michael is so batty for killin': because druids and creepy dudes in black are protecting... ah, skip it.
