Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody has two solo projects on the go, it has been revealed.
Speaking to BBC's Newsbeat, the star, behind hits including SPITTING GAMES, explained that the two side projects are very different, both from each other and the work of his band.
Indeed, the reason that Lightbody decided to start work on the two albums was because he had written a number of songs that were too "leftfield" for Snow Patrol.
One of the new efforts will be called Listen Tank and the singer characterises the tracks as "Russian submarine music".
He said: "I don't know why, there's just lots of voices on it with me using my vocals as an instrument rather than a guitar.
"It sounds like some underwater choir."
Lightbody has been working on the project with Jacknife Lee, the man who produced the last three Snow Patrol albums.
The other solo release from the singer will be a country album, a genre which Lightbody has loved for a long time.
"I always thought I had a country album in me and it turns out I did," he revealed.
Lightbody added that he is not concerned if people like the new effort, explaining that it was something he just had to get out of his system.
However, the star did not reveal when the new albums would be released, although the new Snow Patrol single comes out on May 25th.
Recently, Lightbody hit out at the jail sentence given to the men behind the Pirate Bay website, claiming people should be allowed to download music for free if they want to.
