Supported by another lot of Irish lovelies, Hal and the eccentric 747s, The Thrills were certainly in good company as they played in a city that has become a virtual home from home for them.

After a bit of a tedious wait, the crowd was beginning to get a bit fraught as their excitement began to billow and increase with each second that passed.

Finally the fivesome make their entrance and the thrill-hungry Scouse crowd don’t need to contain themselves any longer as yelps of, ‘Connor I love you’ emanate from the die-hards at the front.

You can tell how pleased The Thrills are to be back in Liverpool, they’ve made a lot of friends here and love the scene and we love them right back.

A band that has really made their name in the UK and America with their exhaustive touring schedules you may expect The Thrills to sound as rough as a bear’s you know what, but quite the opposite. The hard work, the buzz and the reaction of the crowd obviously agree with these guys and they sound top draw.

Not looking too bad either after a spell in Malaga to film their latest video (The Irish Keep Gatecrashing), The Thrills have been working hard on their harmonies and the constant re-evaluation of how a song sounds live has given them plenty of time to get tracks from both of their albums sounding incredible.

The vocals of frontman Connor Deasy sound as heartbreaking as ever and it’s great to see drummer, Ben Carrigan, back in the hot seat after as spell away during the REM tour.

New single, The Irish Keep Gatecrashing (out 21 st March), goes down a storm with this adopted Irish crowd and the band seem satisfied with their choice.

It’s hard to see why The Thrills’ second album, Let’s Bottle Bohemia, hasn’t matched the success achieved by their debut. This capacity-strong Scouse crowd love them and know every word of their more lived-in sounding second offering.

With an encore matched by no other; mini-Thrills, stage diving and crazy groupies, it needs to be said that The Thrills deserve more credit than they are given.
