Country star Tim Mcgraw thrilled students at a Franklin, Tennessee middle school with an assembly visit on Thursday (07Oct10) - but he wasn't there to have fun or sing a song.
The star visited the school, where his nephew studies, to deliver a strong anti-bullying message inspired by the suicide of gay teen Asher Brown, who took his life following hurtful torments about his sexuality.
Reading from a sheet of paper, MCGraw said, "His stepfather believed that he (Brown) was bullied to death by the same group of kids over and over.
"It's believed that he reached his breaking point after another boy kicked Asher down a flight of stairs, and then kicked his books."
MCGraw then told the kids at his nephew's school, "You can stand up and you can do your part to stop bullying."
