Singer-turned-Tv personality Adrienne Bailon sabotaged her own music career because she is "scared to fail".
The star started as a member of R&B girl group 3Lw before forming The Cheetah Girls, and after they disbanded, Bailon landed a solo record deal. She released a handful of singles, but her long-awaited album never materialised, and Bailon has now admitted her career stalled due to her insecurities.
Bailon, who is now a host on U.S. chat show The Real, fought back tears as she discussed the topic during the show on Wednesday (28Jan15), and when a fan asked why she is not making any new music, she replied, "I'm scared to fail, so I've had this solo album people that I've been saying is coming out for the last five years...
"When I finished Cheetah Girls, I got a record deal at Def Jam and it didn't go the way I thought it was gonna go. Like there was so much more to music than just what I love about music... I felt like the music business was different than when I got in the game at 16 years old... And to step out on my own and let my voice be heard, I'm scared... What if people don't like it?... What if it's not successful?... I would rather it not come out and just say, 'Well it just never came out,' than for it come out and be whack (bad)."
