Hip Hop Mogul Damon Dash Has Reached A Confidential Settlement In His $3 Million (£1.9 Million) Lawsuit With Rapper Curren$y Over A Record Deal.
Jay Z's former business partner attempted to sign Curren$y, real name Shante Franklin, to his DD172 label in 2010, and went on to release two of the MC's projects as they worked out a deal.
Unfortunately, negotiations fell apart and Curren$y went on to sign a contract with Warner Bros. Records executives in 2011, giving them exclusive rights of his tracks.
He accused Dash of continuing to release his music and filed a request for an injunction and $1.5 million (£937,500) in damages, but Dash fired back with claims he was given permission.
The rap mogul's lawyer resigned from the case and Curren$y subsequently demanded a default judgment of $2.9 million (£1.8 million) in damages plus $95,000 (£59,000) in lawyer's fees in November (14). The lawsuit was confidentially settled and dismissed on 2 October (15).
