Everyone knows the Dr Who Christmas special is a family affair; a festive institution; a tradition, a right of passage. But it's pertinent to know, according to Steven Moffat, anyway, that Dr Who will dominate 2013.

"They are immense, they are considerable," he promised. "[The episodes] will be full of tremendous surprises. But they wouldn't be surprises if I accidentally said them now, would they? But I promise you," he continued, "we're going to take over television. Trust me. You will know [what the link is between the two] eventually. You are going to get the answer but as ever on Doctor Who, we make you wait a little bit longer." 'The Snowmen' will air on BBC One on December 25 at 5.15pm, with eight more Doctor Who episodes confirmed to follow in 2013. Moffat added, in his interview with SFX, that there are "No two-parters, so they're all standalone stories. And they are all huge - there isn't the budget-saver episode. I don't know how we've done this. Possibly we'll find out at the end when we'll have no money left and will have to go to prison..." Intriguing...

There's probably nothing more sinister, and destructive to the innocent brains of children, that killer snowmen, but the modern versions of Dr Who - played by Matt Smith, have proved to be immensely popular, and don't shy away from scare-fests, even in holiday season. Especially in holiday season, in fact.
