The ‘Sisters’ star says women in comedy are still getting paid less than their male counterparts.
As one of the most successful women in comedy Tina Fey is among the most recognisable funny ladies on the planet. But even with her success the comedian thinks it’s still a ‘terrible time’ for women in comedy, because despite all the amazing work they do, they're still getting paid less than male stars.
Speaking to Town and Country magazine, Fey vented her frustrations about getting asked the same questions over and over again by the press. “Amy (Poehler) and I just did two months of press for Sisters," Fey said. “And journalists were still bringing up, 'People say women aren't funny.’”
“The next time I'm at a press junket and someone says that, I have to remember to say, 'We need to stop talking about whether women are funny. And we need to acknowledge that black people are funnier than white people. Let's discuss that.’”

But it’s not just the age old ‘women aren’t funny’ remarks that frustrate Fey, she’s also tired of hearing about what a great time it is for women in comedy. "Every single interviewer asked, 'Isn't this an amazing time for women in comedy?’” Fey continued.
“People really wanted us to be openly grateful—'Thank you so much!'—and we were like, 'No, it's a terrible time. If you were to really look at it, the boys are still getting more money for a lot of garbage, while the ladies are hustling and doing amazing work for less.’”

While Fey and Poehler are perhaps two of the most famous celebrity BFFs, that still doesn't stop the pair being constantly asked if there are ever any bumps in their friendship. “And the second question? "'You and Amy have known each other for so long. What do you fight about?’” Fey added.
“And we'd say, 'We fight about the same things Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg fight about. Do you ask them that question?’” Fey will next be seen in comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, which is loosely based on journalist Kim Barker's experience as a war reporter in Afghanistan.
