Wilmer Valderrama has been unveiled as the new series regular when ‘NCIS’ returns for its 14th season later this year.

The 36 year old actor will be playing the part of an unstable, unpredictable NCIS agent who once accepted a deep undercover role in his part but lost himself in it and has never fully grounded himself, according to a press release from CBS.

“Many agents don’t know he’s still on the job or that he’s even alive. Now, he’s back and his dedication to job and country has left him an unpredictable, charismatic loose cannon,” it reads.

Valderrama recently appeared in five episodes of the last series of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and had a long-standing role in all eight seasons of ‘That ‘70s Show’, and has played parts in ‘Minority Report’ and ‘Awake’ performing similar roles to the one he’ll be taking on in ‘NCIS’. He also played the lead voiceover part in the long-running kids’ show ‘Handy Manny’.

“Wilmer Valderrama will be able to flex his dramatic, physical and comedic talents in this classic NCIS role,” the show’s executive producer Gary Glasberg said. “Fans are going to see him like they’ve never seen him before. This is going to be fun. We’re thrilled he’s coming aboard.”

CBS is figuring out how to replace the long-standing star of ‘NCIS’ Michael Weatherly, who departed the show in an emotional finale to season 13. The show, which is the most-watched drama series in the country with an average of 20.3 million viewers, also stars Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll, Emily Wickersham, Brian Dietzen and David McCallum.

Meanwhile, Valderrama recently announced that he and his long-term girlfriend Demi Lovato, 23, had split up after six years of dating.
