The X-Men cast and crew appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. The huge cast for the upcoming movie X-Men: Days of Future Past appeared in Hall-H and was greeted with an overwhelmingly positive response from fans.

The next film will see the cast doubled (quite literally) as the mutant superheroes have to travel in time to change an event which will, if not prevented, destroy mankind. The cast appeared en masse: each taking a few moments to address the audience or in Ian McKellan's case to flirt with Michael Fassbender.

Actors who have appeared in the X-Men films dating from 2000 turned up to meet fans, discuss their mutant powers and show footage of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. Alongside McKellan and Fassbender, these actors included Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore, all from previous or instalments in the X-Men franchise.

Also appearing were Evan Peters, Peter Dinklage and Omar Dy who all have roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Director Bryan Singer also attended the event and later tweeted thanking the fans.

Singer commented on the possible opportunities in expanding the X-Men franchise, he said "it's as every bit as large as the Marvel Universe movies and the DC universe. There's room for expanding the film canon."

Anna Pacquin (Rogue) and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) were already present at the Comic-Con convention for True Blood and The Hunger Games respectively. Hugh Jackman, too, appeared in a double role: not only was he promoting X-Men but his film The Wolverine.

The Wolverine is released in UK cinemas on 25th July and the 26th for US viewers.
