Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Trek Into Darkness: Movie Poster

Two new stills have been launched from the app for Jj Abrams’ forthcoming Star Trek movie Star Trek Into Darkness and if you like looking at images of handsome men gazing pensively into the middle-distance, whilst wearing matching, smart turtle necks, in a star white, vaguely sci-fi context, then boy, this first photo is really going to get your pulse racing.

Of course, Abrams was never going to give too much away by releasing action shots or plot-revealing stills for all to see, now, was he. What he’s done, instead, is gently reminded us of who’s in the film. Here we see Chris Pine, reprising the role of James T Kirk and Zachary Quinto returning as Spock, though if you didn’t catch the first of JJ’s Star Trek movies back in 2009 you may remember him as Sylar in the TV series Heroes. The second of the still reveals Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of villain John Harrison, a new addition to the Star Trek movie empire.

Empire Online have reported that the storyline for this new instalment in the big-budget Star Trek franchise finds the crew of the Enterprise trying to stay alive whilst sorting out all their planetary difficulties. However, planet Earth is under attack by a mysterious force and it’s down to Captain Kirk and his crew to halt a threat from within the Federation. The movie is also set to star Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and John Cho. It will hit movie screen on May 9, 2013.
