Acting career: Amber Heard began her acting career in television, appearing in episodes of 'Jack & Bobby', 'The Mountain', 'The O.C.' and 'Criminal Minds'.
She made her first film appearance in 2004's 'Friday Night Lights' opposite Billy Bob Thornton. The following year she was in 'Drop Dead Sexy' and 'North Country'.
In 2006, she appeared in crime drama 'Alpha Dog' which starred Emile Hirsch and Justin Timberlake.
Her first extended TV show role was 'Hidden Palms', which ran for 8 episodes and saw Heard's weight plummet.
She was the subject of teen horror 'All the Boys Love Mandy Lane', which was released in 2008 two years after its debut at Toronto Film Festival.
In 2008, she was in Judd Apatow's comedy 'Pineapple Express' starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, and martial arts film 'Never Back Down'. She re-teamed with Billy Bob Thornton in the drama 'The Informers'.
In 2009, she appeared alongside Demi Moore in 'The Joneses' and horror re-make 'The Stepfather' with Penn Badgley.
2011 saw her appear alongside Nicolas Cage in 'Drive Angry', and future husband Johnny Depp in 'The Rum Diary'.
Heard starred in thriller 'Paranoia' in 2013 with Liam Hemsworth and Gary Oldman, as well as Robert Rodriguez's action comedy 'Machete Kills' starring Danny Trejo.
In 2014, she appeared alongside Kevin Costner in '3 Days To Kill'.
Personal life: Amber Heard was raised in Austin, Texas with parents Patricia, a web researcher, and David who was a contractor.
She graduated through a home-schooling course after leaving high school early.
She was raised a Catholic but now identifies as an athiest.
She classes herself as bisexual having had relationships with both men and women.
She has previously dated photographer Tasya van Ree but married Johnny Depp in 2015 at home in LA.
