Victor Frankenstein Trailer

Igor Strausman is the less thought about assistant of the insane but brilliant Victor Frankenstein. He's as genius as the passionate medical student he aids in experiments, but more rational when it comes to ethics. He does, however, share Frankenstein's obsession with eternal life and becomes equally as excited when they manage to bring a dead animal back to life. This in itself marks a unique scientific advancement, but Frankenstein's morbid curiosity fails to stop there. He wants to be able to create human life, but doing this involves sourcing body parts from mortuaries - and any other place they can find. Igor's timid nature, though deeply involved passion for the project, keeps him from doing his best to dissuade Frankenstein from completing their 'monster', until it's too late. Now they have a rogue beast on their hands, not to mention the police who are out for blood.

Trainwreck Review

Good

Amy Schumer makes her big screen debut with a script that feels like a much-extended sketch from her TV series. It's hilariously observant and refreshingly grown-up about sex, but the plot falls back on the usual cliches. Even with some clever twists and turns, the structure is oddly predictable. But the biggest surprise is that Schumer and director Judd Apatow ultimately cave in and take a traditional approach to romance.

As she does on her show, Schumer plays a sexually frank woman called Amy. Taught by her father (Colin Quinn) to distrust monogamy, she has indulged in a commitment-free life, rarely seeing a man more than once. And her one repeat male partner (John Cena) is a rather too self-obsessed bodybuilder. Then her boss, blithely demanding magazine editor Diana (Tilda Swinton), assigns her to interview Aaron (Bill Hader), a doctor who specialises in sports injuries. Amy can't help but seduce him; it's what she does! But in the process she realises that she actually quite likes him. This idea so rattles her that she sabotages her close relationship with her sister Kim (Brie Larson), who is expecting a child with husband Tom (Mike Birbiglia).

Schumer has impeccable comic timing, and she's hilarious all the way through this film, playing on her character's riotous way of being shockingly honest at all the wrong times. In other words, the character is entertaining but never very likeable because of the thoughtless things she does and says. So our sympathies lie with Hader, who gives an unusually layered turn as a smart, sensitive and very funny guy who just might be too good for Amy. Other characters are either here to provide emotion (Larson and Quinn) or to shamelessly steal scenes (Swinton). And Apatow brings in a usual stream of big-name cameos, including Daniel Radcliffe and Marisa Tomei in a clever pastiche of a New York indie movie.

Daniel Radcliffe was recently filmed at a karaoke bar and his performance is actually pretty incredible. Whilst most people may turn to Dolly Parton or any 80s power ballad they can find, the Harry Potter actor went in an entirely different direction: rap.

Daniel Radcliffe Stars In ‘Nylon’ Magazine Stunt As The World’s Worst Receptionist

Daniel Radcliffe Harry Potter

If Daniel Radcliffe’s acting career was suddenly over and he happened to find himself penniless, there’s one job he certainly shouldn’t apply for. The Harry Potter tried his hand at being a receptionist for a magazine and the experiment failed, quite miserably.

Daniel Radcliffe Recalls Accidentally Poisoning Himself By Drinking Antifreeze On The Set Of 'Horns'

Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe isn't the first actor to suffer a severe injury when shooting a film, but he may be the only person who has accidentally poisoned himself while on set, and is rather lucky to have not caused any serious damage.

Could 'Horns' Inspire Next Year's Halloween Costumes?

Daniel Radcliffe Juno Temple

Following the Halloween release of 'Horns', it seems like the film might have arrived a little too late to inspire elaborate trick-or-treat costume ideas, although star Daniel Radcliffe has his hopes set on next year, and with good reason. "I loved them. I had a great time" he explained, "they were very very quick to put on, they were like twenty minutes".

In an age when special effects can take days to set up, Daniel Radcliffe was amazed at how fast the fake horns were applied. In a recent interview promoting the movie, Radcliffe explained that two hours is no time at all where prosthetics are concerned. "The big stuff at the end where I had even bigger make-up still only took two hours which is crazy for the amount of stuff they did."

Alexandre Aja's Horns Sends Daniel Radcliffe In A New Direction

Daniel Radcliffe Alexandre Aja Juno Temple Stephen King

As Daniel Radcliffe continues to experiment with movie genres, he has frequently mentioned that he is happiest about his role in the new thriller 'Horns', directed by maverick filmmaker Alexandre Aja. The 36-year-old writer-director has been playing with the horror genre since his 1999 feature debut 'Furia', a post-apocalyptic romp starring a little-known Marion Cotillard.

After the vicious 'High Tension' (2003) and a pair of remakes ('The Hills Have Eyes' and 'Mirrors'), Aja took a sharp left turn into comedy with the hit 'Piranha 3D'. And now he's combined humour with terror for 'Horns', in which Daniel Radcliffe plays a hapless guy who is suspected of killing his girlfriend (Juno Temple), but discovers that the horns growing out of his head might help him find the real murderer.

Horns Review

Good

With his most stylish film yet, horror specialist Alexandre Aja takes a wildly irreverent approach, packing the screen with rude humour, visual flourishes and spiky characters. But it's assembled in such a rapid-fire way that it's difficult to get a handle on anything, which makes the movie feel like a series of outrageous set-pieces without a coherent plot to hold them together. The likeable actors help bring their characters to life, but the film is too hyperactive to let us engage with any of them.

It's set in a small town near Seattle, where Ig (Daniel Radcliffe) is in shock after his childhood sweetheart Merrin (Juno Temple) was violently murdered. Then he becomes the prime suspect, and the media have a field day. So he hires his lifelong pal Lee (Max Minghella) as his lawyer, partly because he's the only person in town who believes he's innocent. This includes Ig's parents (James Remar and Kathleen Quinlan) and brother (Joe Anderson). As the situation continues to deteriorate, Ig suddenly discovers that horns are growing on his head and no one seems very shocked by this. They also seem unable to lie in his presence, so he decides to use this to find out who really killed Merrin. Along the way he gets a shocking glimpse into what everyone in town really thinks about each other.

The film is an assault on the senses, as Aja packs every moment with outrageous sights and sounds, encouraging the actors to sometimes drift over the line into broad slapstick. He also fills the screen with religious imagery, including churches, crosses, pitchforks and snakes, all hinting that Ig's transformation is connected with his loss of faith. Or maybe it's just part of the film's jokey attitude. But as pieces of the central mystery slowly fall into place, the movie seems to become looser and less coherent. Even when the real villain is identified, there's still at least half an hour of flashbacks and revelations, confrontations and conclusions, none of which are particularly surprising or satisfying.
