Childhood: Enrique Iglesias is the third child of singer Julio Iglesias and journalist Isabel Preysler, born in Madrid, Spain. In 1979, Iglesias' parents divorced and Enrique moved to stay with his mother. When his grandfather was kidnapped in 1986, Enrique was sent to live with his father in Miami. Due to his father's prestige in the musical world, Iglesias wanted to keep his desired to perform a secret. Once he had finished his time at Gulliver Preparatory School in Florida, Enrique recorded a tape of three songs which he gave to his father's publicist under the stage name Enrique Martinez. The tape was a hit, and in 1995 Iglesias dropped out of his business class at the University of Miami and recorded his first album.
Career: Enrique Iglesias released his first album, Enrique Iglesias, on the 12th July, 1995 which went on to sell over one million copies in its first three months. His subsequent two albums in 1997 and 1998 brought him onto the front line of the Latin music scene. His tour in 1999, Cosas del Amor, was the first concert tour to be sponsored by fast-food juggernaut McDonalds. 1999 marked the year that Iglesias crossed over fully into English spoken music. Will Smith asked Iglesias to contribute to his new film, Wild Wild West after seeing him perform on tour. The song, Bailamos, became a number one hit in the US. The song appeared in his first English spoken album, Enrique, in the same year. In 2001, Iglesias released a second English album entitled Escape, before returning to his native language for the album Quizas in 2002. His 7th studio album, 7, was released in 2003, also in English. Iglesias released his next album, Insomnia, in 2007, as well as acting in the Robert Rodriguez film Once Upon a Time in Mexico, alongside Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek and Johnny Depp. Hi ninth album, Euphoria, was released in 2010 and won the Billboard Music Award for Top Latin Album. It contained songs in both Spanish and English. In March, 2014, Iglesias released the album Sex and Love, containing three singles which all reached the number one spot on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs list.
Personal life: In 1997, Iglesias dated Playmate Samantha Torres, before staring a relationship with the tennis player Anna Kournikova in 2001. This relationship lasted 12 years, until separating in 2013.
