Martin Freeman (born 08.09.1971) Martin Freeman is an English actor best known for his role in the BBC comedy 'The Office', the Christmas rom com 'Love Actually', sci-fi comedy 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and Peter Jackson's Tolkien trilogy 'The Hobbit'.
Childhood: Martin Freeman was born in Aldershot, Hampshire. Geoffrey, a naval officer, and Philomena, are his parents but they separated when he was young and his father passed away when he was 10. He was raised a Roman Catholic and attended a Catholic comprehensive for getting a place at London's Central School of Speech and Drama.
Acting Career: His first notable role was in 2001 as Tim Canterbury in 'The Office'. Whilst on that show, he also appeared in Sacha Baron Cohen's 'Ali G Indahouse' and 'Love Actually'. In 2003, he took on the role as Lord Shaftesbury in BBC mini series 'Charles II: The Power and The Passion' and, following that, appeared in the sitcom 'Hardware'. He was in Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's zombie comedy 'Shaun of the Dead' in 2004 as well as their cop slasher flick 'Hot Fuzz' in 2007 and will appear in another of their movies, 'The World's End', in 2013. In 2005 he starred in the BBC series 'The Robinsons' and also appeared in sci-fi comedy 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'.
In 2007 he was in the film 'The All Together' and appeared in the TV comedy 'Boy Meets Girl' and Christmas comedy 'Nativity!' in 2009. Most recently, he was Dr. John Watson in TV series 'Sherlock' and Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's Tolkien trilogy 'The Hobbit' in 2012.
Personal Life: Martin Freeman lives in Hertfordshire with his actress wife Amanda Abbington and his son and daughter. He loves Motown music and is a lifelong vegetarian.
