Anticipation is high for the first collection of both solo and duo hits.
'The Ultimate Collection: Paul Simon' is the first collaborative greatest hits compilation between Paul Simon as a solo artist, and his work with Art Garfunkel as the self-named duo Simon & Garfunkel.
Paul Simon unveils his greatest hits including Simon & Garfunkel work
While the duo has seen several reunions of the years since their first hiatus in 1965, Paul Simon kicked off an ongoing solo career that same year, going on to release several well-loved hits of his own. Now, for the very first time, the best of Paul Simon's own back catalogue is joined with the best of Simon & Garfunkel in a uniquely collaborative set-up entitled 'The Ultimate Collection'.
Featuring no less than 19 tracks, the album plays host to such gems as 'You Can Call Me Al', 'Mrs Robinson', 'The Boxer' and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'; songs that have cemented Paul Simon as one of the most significant songwriters the world has ever seen. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has amassed a total of twelve Grammy Awards over the years, while his work as one half of Simon & Garfunkel earned the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement accolade. His lifetime of achievements and musical talent reflects entirely in this compilation album; a real prized collection for any fan.
More: Listen to 'You Can Call Me Al'
Paul Simon made an appearance for Saturday Night Live's 40th Anniversary this year, performing a melodic rendition of 'Still Crazy After All These Years'. He performed on the Studio 8H stage to close the special episode, and even made sure that his supporting SNL band got a standing ovation for their involvement. Pickett supported him, and delivered an explosive saxophone solo during the show.
Including a series of sold-out shows across Australia, Simon is now on tour with Sting for their 'On Stage Together' world tour. Upcoming dates include a European leg, with April bringing UK dates at London's O2 Arena also. With such buzz surrounding the album, the rest of the tour will no doubt sell out soon.
