No Imminent Reunion Tour For The Spice Girls

Spice Girls

It looks like we'll be waiting a little longer for the hugely anticipated reunion of the Spice Girls, as it seems not all the group can agree on the prospect of a comeback tour. Mel C recently opened up about the rumoured prospect of them performing, but confessed that Victoria Beckham is not on board.

Despite coming together earlier this year to discuss ideas to reunite the Spice Girls, Mel C, Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton have apparently not set anything in stone as of yet. One thing's for sure, we can't expect a reunion tour any time soon.

Since the Spice Girls announced that there would be something of a reunion coming up, speculation has been rife about what we can expect from them. Hints of a tour were suggested earlier this month, but now Victoria Beckham has well and truly shot down those ideas.

Reunited Spice Girls Reportedly To Tour UK And US - But Will Not Record New Music

Spice Girls Victoria Beckham

The hugely anticipated Spice Girls reunion apparently WILL see the girl-band performing concerts in both the US and the UK – but they will not involve any new music.

The recently reunited Nineties pop legends are now expected to tour Britain and perform songs from their back catalogue, before jetting Stateside to perform a series of gigs there as a full five-piece.

Originally, when credible rumours of a reunion surfaced last week, it was reported that Victoria Beckham had agreed to be a part of the new series of projects as long as she didn’t have to sing, thus most likely ruling out any hopes of live shows. Instead, there had been reports of television projects, talent shows and product endorsements being the basis of the reunion.

The reunion that many thought would never happen might finally be on, with reports that all five Spice Girls have agreed to put their differences aside and get together again later this year.

A report by The Sun on Thursday night (February 1st) indicated that the group are about to reunite under the aegis of their former manager, Simon Fuller, for a string of projects that will commence in 2018. Each of the five members will apparently earn £10 million, with reports that Victoria Beckham was the last to be convinced to do the reunion, but on the condition that she will not have to sing.

They are reportedly all meeting in London on Friday to discuss terms for the potential reunion.

Geri Horner Denies 'Throwing Shade' At Spice Girls Bandmates

Geri Horner Spice Girls

Geri Horner has denied that she was “throwing shade” at her former Spice Girls bandmates during a recent interview on ‘Good Morning Britain’.

The 45 year old singer and TV personality appeared on the ITV magazine show on Thursday morning (January 25th), and talked about her memories of the Spice Girls days. Questioned on the increasingly unlikely possibility of a reunion – rumours of which have been flying around for over two years now – Horner replied that she had “let go” of hopes that the five would get back together.

“Last year I so wanted it to happen, because it was the anniversary, and a few of us were really pushing for it to happen,” she told hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard. “And then it didn’t, so I sort of let it go a little bit. I love the girls, and I’m really grateful for the fans and the music.”

The much-rumoured Spice Girls 20th anniversary reunion might be back on the cards as Geri Halliwell confirmed that the girl group has been in “talks” about getting back together for a brief celebratory tour.

Halliwell, 43, appeared on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (September 8th) when she was asked whether the group had any plans to mark two decades since their first single and album next year. She responded cautiously, admitting that her band-mates Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C had been in preliminary discussions about reuniting (Victoria Beckham is already believed to have turned down the possibility).

However, she didn’t want to get fans’ hopes up unnecessarily as nothing had been set in stone yet. “I think it's really faltering that people are still supportive of the Spice Girls individually and collectively, that's beautiful, it's really nice. It almost feels you know that it [the Spice Girls] belongs to everyone, like a generation.”

Emma Bunton has played down media reports of an imminent Spice Girls reunion, telling fans that no concrete plans have yet been decided.

Bunton, a.k.a. Baby Spice, was responding to an article on Friday (August 7th) in The Sun which claimed that the most successful girl group in pop history would be reuniting for its 20th anniversary with an international tour next year, but without Victoria Beckham.

Just a few hours later, she seemed to put a dampener on those rumours on her Heart London breakfast radio show. “If anything happens and it’s concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know, but nothing’s happening at the moment,” she said.

With The Spice Girls Well And Truly Over, Mel C Is Setting Her Sights On A "Voice" Gig

Melanie C Spice Girls

It’s the circle of life – while some girl groups are reuniting, others are calling it quits for good. Such is the fate of 90s wonder The Spice Girls, at least as far as Melanie Chisholm (Mel C) is concerned. The singer commented for The Sun that the group, comprising of herself, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, Emma Burton and Victoria Beckham (nee Adams) wasn’t likely to head back in to the studio to record new music. However, she didn’t rule out further tours, so all is not lost for the five remaining Spice Girls fans out there.

In the meantime, Mel C is pursuing some creative endeavors of her own and targeting the talent show market this time. While it isn’t clear whether producers of BBC’s The Voice have actually contacted the performer, she does seem to have her sights set on a judging spot. It makes perfect sense, following the natural progression from pop star to fading/faded popstar to reality show judge.

Spice Girls Musical 'Viva Forever' Closing After Just Six Months

Spice Girls

Viva not quite Forever for the Spice Girls musical as it’s been revealed that the West End production is to close in June. Devastating news for sure.

The news came on the back of poor reviews and a subsequent slump in ticket sales, despite the show initially boasting that it was taking bookings up until 2014 in the wake of December’s high profile launch. Sadly producer Judie Craymer confirmed “We just can't make it work," who was hoping to follow up the success of Abba musical Mamma Mia!

In a statement, the Spice Girls said they were "thrilled that the thousands of people who came to the show had as much fun as we did,” but on a personal level it’s clear there were a couple of disappointed members. Emma Bunton took to her twitter to say that she was “gutted” about the news, while Melanie Chisholm also confessed herself “devastated” – an emotion shared by the many who actually went to watch the musical, we feel, though not perhaps for the same reasons.

Multi-instrumentalist Andy Fletcher said: "It annoys us when you see some of the bands who have won it."

Victoria Beckham Snubs Spice Girls Tour, Leaves Geri Halliwell Fuming

Victoria Beckham Geri Horner Spice Girls

Victoria Beckham has decided against a new Spice Girls album and tour, leaving Geri Halliwell incensed. The former friends are no longer on speaking terms after Posh Spice rejected the idea of a "final fling" for the best-selling 90's girl group.

Geri and the rest of the girls - particularly Mel B and Emma Bunton - were keen on getting back on the road, though Victoria is presumably busy with her thriving fashion house. A source told the Daily Mirror, "Geri wants the girls to be back on the road as soon as they can. She's been trying to get in touch with Simon for the past few weeks but isn't getting anywhere. She and Victoria are no longer talking." One insider confirmed that Victoria's absence has essentially blown apart the entire comeback, saying, "A tour without Victoria is a real risk. She may not do a load of the singing but she brings a lot more than people think to the table."

The singer - easily the most successful and famous of the Spice Girls - has plenty on her plate in the coming months anyway. After leaving Los Angeles Galaxy, husband David Beckham is likely to sign for a new club in the near future, uprooting the famous family once again.

Spice Girls Give Victoria The Cold Shoulder At Viva Forever Afterparty

Spice Girls Victoria Beckham Geri Horner Mel B Melanie C

Trouble is brewing in Spice World yet again.

After the premiere of Viva Forever, the Spice Girls musical earlier this week, two distinct camps reportedly formed between the members of the former girl group. At the afterparty for Viva Forever, Victoria Beckham was shunned by the rest of the girls and herself refused to mingle with Geri, Emma, Mel B and Mel C. "Victoria sat on her own table away from the rest of the girls. They didn’t speak the whole time she was there," a source reported, quoted by the Metro.

Despite this little incident, all of the ladies seemed to be in high spirits after the show. Emma Bunton, 36, Geri Halliwell, 40, Melanie Chisholm, 38, and Melanie Brown, 37, reportedly took the event as a chance to let their hair down, mingling with the musical’s cast and producers and later dancing to some Spice Girls hits. Beckham, on the other hand, had chosen to spend the night close to her husband and three children, as well as talking to fashion critic, Susie Menkes.
