Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello Promises To "Dry Slap" Nigel Farage

Tom Morello Rage Against The Machine

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has promised to “dry slap” the right-wing British politician Nigel Farage, if he ever encounters him.

Morello, along with the rest of his band, have long been outspoken against the former UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party) leader and pro-Brexit campaigner. Earlier this year, they warned Farage not to use the band’s name as a pun in his divisive podcast ‘Farage Against The Machine’, and in 2012 objected to his use of their hit ‘Killing In The Name’ at UKIP rallies.

This week, responding to a fan in a live webchat for The Guardian, Morello issued another threat that he would slap Farage if he ever saw him in real life.

B-Real Has Joined The Champions In Prophets Of Rage

Chuck D Tom Morello

B-Real has described joining Prophets of Rage as being drafted for a ''world championship'' sports team.

The Cypress Hill rapper - who is part of the politically charged supergroup also featuring members of Rage Against The Machine and Public Enemy - explained that while he is still very much a part of the 'Insane in the Membrane' hitmakers, he couldn't turn down the chance to be part of something so special.

Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, he said: ''It's much like football. You've got your regional teams and then they ask the best players to come and play for the national team - the all-stars. That's what this is. We still play for Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, but when it's time to go for the world championship it's Prophets of Rage.''

Part Live Album, Part Greatest Hits, Critics Have "High Hopes" For Springsteen's Latest Album

Bruce Springsteen Tom Morello

Bruce Springsteen’s 18th studio album is finally out – officially, that is – and the buzz is building. High Hopes is a first for Springsteen, in that it is a compilation of cover songs performed only during live appearances, previously unreleased studio recordings and revived older songs. Over the course of High Hopes’ 20 year history, Springsteen collaborated on the record with the E Street Band, as well as saxophonist Clarence Clemmons, guitarist Danny Federici and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello. Most reviewers are impressed specifically with Morello’s obvious influence on the record.

Billboard’s Caryn Rose gives the collaboration an approving nod, writing: “, Morello's very familiar with and sympathetic to the repertoire because he is an enthusiastic, self-identified fan. His contributions feel inventive, versatile and natural, like an extension of the direction Springsteen was already moving in; he can attack the song in true Morello fashion, contribute tasteful rhythm guitar -- or a combination of the two. Importantly, he challenges Springsteen, both musically and emotionally.”

Bet you didn’t know that Bruce Springsteen had a new album out. Yes, The Boss managed to sneak one past everybody, but it’s ok, because apparently Amazon managed to sneak the album release past him. That might be taking the whole Beyonce surprise album release thing a bit too far.

Bruce Springsteen, Dublin Merrion Hotel
Springsteen's album leaked two weeks ahead of schedule.

According to Billboard, the online retailer briefly made some mp3s from Springsteen’s High Hopes available for purchase earlier than scheduled on Saturday, December 28. The album was actually scheduled for January 14. Fortunately, it was only open for purchase on the Amazon mobile app and the glitch was fixed quickly. The damage might be done already however, since the songs from the album have since found their way to file sharing websites and the illegal downloads are practically impossible to control.

Why Did The Black Keys Make Mumford And Sons Cry At The Grammys?

Mumford And Sons Black Keys Justin Bieber Tom Morello Rage Against The Machine Elton John

It wasn’t only Justin Bieber that the Black Keys had in tears on the evening of the Grammys, it would appear. Mumford & Sons’ bass player Ted Dwayne found himself in tears that night too. Not because either of the Black Keys had been nasty to him but because he’s been a die-hard fan of the band for so long that being sat next to them was a little overwhelming. Not to mention beating his idols to the Album of the Year Grammy.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine after their triumph, Dawyne revealed “I remember seeing the Black Keys at a venue twice the size of this dressing room” and added “I was a die-hard fan. It's just so weird being in a category with them. Sitting next to them, these people I've had posters of. I was in tears.” Of course, it wasn’t just the Black Keys that had the British folk band in awe that night. Marcus Mumford told the magazine’s reporter that he was surprised that Jack White was as friendly as he was. And banjo player Winston Marshall was over the moon to meet Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello. “I loved Tom Morello. To have him liking our music – apparently he'd been to our gigs – for me was just f***ing surreal. We talk to these people, and whether it's f***ing Jack White or Elton John, they're just lovely people who love music as much as you do."

Mumford And Sons won the Album of the Year Grammy for Babel, their sophomore release.

Chevolution Review

Excellent
This fascinating double documentary examines the legends of both Ernesto "Che" Guevara and the iconic photo of him that has taken on its own life. It's also a look at the power of a single image.

The truth is that most people have no idea who Guevara really was, but they know he's cool. This is mainly due to an image snapped almost accidentally in 1960, which was later turned into a logo for people power. The filmmakers trace both the life and death of Guevara and the production and spread of Alberto Korda's photograph with amazing detail, illustrating every point with superb archive footage, photos and interviews with experts, celebrities, politicians and first-hand witnesses.
