With rumoured ‘bad blood’ with Katy Perry, Twitter feuds with Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus criticising the violent content of one of her music videos, Taylor Swift isn’t that popular with many of her fellow artists. The latest artist to come to blows with Swift, or rather her boyfriend Calvin Harris, is former One Direction star, Zayn Malik. Malik and Harris spent yesterday evening squalling on Twitter after Malik retweeted a picture comparing Swift and Miley Cyrus.

Swift withdrew her music from Spotify after growing concerned about the loss of royalties, primarily for plays from non-premium users’ accounts. Malik retweeted a comparison to Cyrus who, now she has ‘made her money’, is turning her attention to charity work. The comparison and a number of the tweets have now been deleted, as the Guardian reports.

Harris defended Swift and pointed out to Malik that Swift’s decision wasn’t just about her own earnings but about, as she claimed, taking a stand for other artists.

‘You've made your money?’ Harris wrote in response to Malik’s retweet. ‘Cool...f**k the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah fuck em.’

‘If u [sic] don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry...’ Harris continued in a series of tweets.

‘While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there's some poor fucker in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive,’ Harris added. ‘Meaning...stay out of things you don't understand.’

Malik responded and claimed Harris didn’t understand his true meaning. Malik further attacked Harris for his age (practically geriatric at 31) and seemingly for being an underwear model for Calvin Klein.

‘Ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate…’ Malik tweeted in response. ‘You clearly didn’t understand what I just said either.’

‘So I suggest you calm your knickers before them [sic] dentures fall out,’ he added.

Despite Malik’s aggressive tone, Harris took the high ground and wished Malik the best of luck in his future career.

‘Best of luck, genuinely. You've got a great voice,’ Harris said.

However, Malik read this as being a passive aggressive attack in suggesting he didn’t write his own music. Malik responded in turn, stating: ‘Oh and I write my own s**t too d**khead’.

Whilst it’s all died down for the time being, who knows what the future will hold for the two? Perhaps the squabble will inspire Malik’s own version of Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’, a song based on her feud with a fellow artist.
