When the Starship Enterprise finds itself under forceful attack, the crew on board fight to their best ability but it's not enough. The unstoppable wave of aliens constantly bombarding the ship means that the crew must accept defeat and flee to an unknown planet. Given the crew were deep into a five year mission, their location to the rest of the Federation is unknown and a rescue mission is going to be far from easy.

Takei, who originally played Sulu said it was ‘unfortunate’ and that the franchise should have created a new gay character.
Star Trek Beyond co-writer Simon Pegg has said he “respectfully disagrees” with George Takei, after the actor called the news that Hikaru Sulu would be gay in the new movie “really unfortunate”. Takei, who is openly gay and played Sulu in the original series and movies, said that the franchise should have made a new character gay, instead of “twisting” Gene Roddenberry’s creation.

In a statement released to The Guardian Pegg said: “I have huge love and respect for George Takei, his heart, courage and humour are an inspiration. However, with regards to his thoughts on our Sulu, I must respectfully disagree with him.”

Roberto Orci has made way for Justin Lin on 'Star Trek 3'.
After signing on to direct a couple of episodes from season 2 of HBO's True Detective, Fast and Furious filmmaker Justin Lin is now the man that will take over from JJ Abrams on Star Trek 3. Lin helmed four of the action-petrolhead movies which grossed $1.9 billion in worldwide box office receipts.

Though Abrams was never really in the running for the third sci-fi movie - given his allegiances to Star Wars - Lin does replace the high profile Roberto Orci, who climbed from the director's seat a couple of weeks ago.

American filmmaker Justin Lin, known for directing several 'Fast & Furious' instalments, is reportedly set to take the helm of the third film in the rebooted 'Star Trek' franchise after writer and producer Roberto Orci dropped out from directing the flick in early December.

The first two movies in the Paramount, SkyDance Productions and Bad Robot 'Star Trek' franchise were directed by J.J. Abrams, who decided not return for the third in order to take the helm of the new 'Star Wars' film.

Rachel McAdams is reportedly in talks with the makers of 'True Detective' for the lead female role in the second season of the Emmy Award winning show.
Rachel McAdams is rumoured to be in talks with the makers of the second series of True Detective. The 35-year-old Canadian actor is not the only star reportedly being considered and other names in the mix include Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) and Michelle Forbes (The Killing).

Justin Lin is rumoured to be directing season two of True Detective.
Looks like 'True Detective' feels the need for speed, as the director of four films from the Fast and Furious franchise, Justin Lin, is all lined up to step up at the show's helm.

Deadline reports that Lin has been lined up to direct the first two episodes of the new season of the hit HBO show which walked away with five Emmy awards last week. Rumours have been swirling for months about the plot and casting details for the next outing which helped bring Matthew McConaughey back into public favour. Previously more known for his appearences in terrible rom-coms such as How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and Failure to Launch, McConaughey blew audiences away with his gritty portrayal of Detective Rush Cohle.

Lin will sit behind the camera for the next 'Bourne' film, due in cinemas in summer 2015
Justin Lin has been signed on to direct the next instalment of the Bourne franchise, which will see Jeremy Renner return as the star of the show. Filming for the fifth Bourne film is due to begin next year, with the movie expected to arrive in cinemas in summer 2015.
Lin, who masterminded the Fast and Furious franchise - which has become one of the most successful film series in history - was announced as the director of the next Bourne film via Deadline, who also revealed that Renner will be returning as Aaron Cross. The 2015 release is being written by Invictus and Sherlock Holmes writer, Anthony Peckham.
The fifth Bourne film will be Lin's first project since stepping down as the head of the Fast and Furious franchise - which grossed over $1 billion from the last three films alone - in place of James Wan. Universal have enlisted the help of Lin to hopefully propel the Bourne series to similar heights enjoyed by F&F.

Dom, Brian and Mia may be living it up with $100 million dollars in their back pockets, but living the fast life hasn't been entirely beneficial as a hole in the lives has been left by the fact that they cannot return home after the trouble they got in with the law. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Terminator 5’ ambitions may be on hold, after the action star revealed there are no firm plans for another movie. A fourth film ‘Terminator Salvation’ came out in 2009 but did not feature the Austrian, though a report in 2011 suggested Arnie was teaming up with ‘Fast & Furious’ director Justin Lin.
In a new interview with Empire magazine, Schwarzenegger was asked whether the franchise still had life, replying, “They have been trying to put a script together but I've not seen it, so I've no idea. There's nothing on the board at this point. Nothing on the plan.” It’s likely that film studios would welcome a fifth movie – especially considering the success of The Expendables franchise – though a poor script would do nobody any favours. Arnie, now 65, also discussed how his increasing years will affect his forthcoming performances, explaining, “In the end you perform for the people. When you're not believable as the guy doing high kicks and flying through the air, then you have to punch up other areas and rely more on drama. This change and what happens in the near future with all my movies is all going to be a good experience for me. I have to broaden myself, expand and concentrate on the acting and on the characters.”
His next movie ‘The Last Stand’ is due out in early 2013 – his first leading role in over 10 years.
