Katy Perry has edged out her fierce rival Taylor Swift to be named as the highest-earning female musician of 2015, with estimated income of $88 million in a 12-month period, according to the annual article by Forbes.

Perry’s Prismatic world tour accounted for the substantial part of her earnings, as she took approximately $1.3 million on every stop on the massive haul. Sponsorship deals tied in with the tour also added to this number, with deals with cosmetics brand Covergirl and fashion accessories company Claire’s as well as her fragrances released in conjunction with Coty.

A range of pop stars including Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye West and Rihanna are suing a Paris-based clothes retailer and manufacturer for “brazenly” selling merchandise such as hats, T-shirts and mobile phone cases bearing their likenesses without their permission.

A complaint was filed on Tuesday (October 6th) at a federal court in New York alleging that the company ElevenParis has ignored warnings previously issued by the artists to stop the items in question from being sold. According to Reuters, the retailer’s actions “have caused and are causing immediate irreparable harm” to the plaintiffs.

Jay-Z has just announced a huge concert titled Tidal X: 10/20, which will feature headline performances from the man himself as well as Prince and Beyonce. The gig is to celebrate Tidal hitting 1 million subscribers and will take place on October 20th at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

Ed Sheeran must have felt like he was dreaming on Saturday night, when he got to join Beyonce onstage at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival for a duet of her hit song ‘Drunk in Love’. Sheeran frequently covers the track but this was the first time he had performed his stripped down acoustic version with Queen Bey herself.

Kim Kardashian has just surpassed Beyoncé to become the Queen of Instagram, with over 44 million followers as of Monday (August 24th). The reality star has narrowly beaten Beyonce to take the crown, breaking her previous record of 43.95 million. According to the Daily Mail, just two weeks ago Kim was ranked in the number two spot with 42million followers, meaning that she has gained over two million followers in just 14 days.

Kim Kardashian has now got more Instagram followers than Beyoncé.

Last week Kim had celebrated hitting the 42 million followers mark on the photo sharing site, posting a cleavage-centric pic. Kim's Instagram feed is usually filled with her favourite type of image, the 'selfie', which she loves taking so much that earlier this year she published a whole book dedicated to them titled ‘Selfish’. The book contained over 350 pages filled with selfies of the 34 year old from over the years.

Hugh Jackman and Stephen Colbert have been announced as some of the big name hosts of next month’s Global Citizen Festival in New York’s Central Park.

The Global Citizen Festival, which was launched in 2012 as part of 15 year campaign to end extreme poverty worldwide by 2030, made the announcement via its website on Thursday morning (August 13th).

Salma Hayek, Olivia Wilde, Kerry Washington and Deborra-Lee Furness, Jackman’s wife, have also been confirmed as emcees for the free-ticket event which takes place in Central Park on September 26th this year.

Nicki Minaj is not happy with the MTV Video Music Award nominations. The 32-year-old singer took to Twitter to complain about two of her music videos not receiving enough recognition. Jay-Z could be about to suffer some major embarrassment with his streaming service Tidal, as his wife Beyoncé is among the artists whose music could get removed from the platform if a deal isn't reached with record company Sony.

Beyonce's music could soon be gone from Tidal.

According to a report by Bloomberg Businessweek Sony is threatening to pull all of its artists' music from Tidal including that of Beyoncé who one of the compnay’s co-owners. Bloomberg reports that sources have said Jay-Z is yet to reach a deal on a streaming contract with Sony and the record company is reportedly asking for "large advances" in return for giving Tidal the rights to feature its artists' catalogues.

The much discussed Tidal revolution seems to already be taking effect. Having purchased the new streaming service as part of a joint venture and re-launching it as an “artist friendly” business model, Jay Z has removed his 1996 debut album Reasonable Doubt from Spotify.

The rapper removed his album overnight between Monday and Tuesday, and it is currently unavailable to stream in the US and Canada. It is, for the moment, still accessible for UK users. Instead, North American fans can find it on – you guessed it – Tidal.

Rihanna has dropped a brand new track, the poetically titled American Oxygen, and in the process, declared her allegiance for Jay Z's new streaming service, Tidal. The track is Rihanna's take on the "American dream," but you've probably guessed this from the title already.

The news here is that Rihanna, just like Beyonce before her and Madonna before that has lent her support for Jay Z's artist-friendly alternative to services like Spotify. Destiny's Child. Stellar Awards. Guys. It happened. The former R&B trio didn't tease their reunion or reveal they were planning anything at all, they just made it happen on Saturday night. Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams took the stage together at Las Vegas' Orleans Arena to perform Williams' Say Yes. Beyoncé and Rowland previously collaborated on the studio version of Williams' single, an EDM-inspired reimagining of the Nigerian gospel song When Jesus Says Yes.

Jay-Z is apparently involved in a legal battle concerning his alleged fathering of a love child over twenty years ago. According to the National Enquirer, leaked court documents suggest that Rymir Satterthwaite, a 21 year old aspiring rapper from New Jersey, filed a request for Hova to undertake a paternity test to prove or disprove that he is his father.

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, successfully fought against this suit five years ago, but in December 2014 a paralegal named Lillie Coley, believed to be Satterthwaite’s legal guardian, filed evidence that the rapper had submitted false information to the court to get out of taking the test.

After creating another publicity firestorm at the Grammys over the weekend, Kanye West has sought to clarify what he meant and taken back some of the things he said about Beck.

So there’s SXSW for the hipsters, Coachella for the fashionable crowd… and then there’s the Global Citizen music festival, which has a different vibe altogether. Held in Central Park, the third annual event featured the likes of Beyonce, Jay Z, Alicia Keys, No Doubt, Sting and fun. The star-packed festival is free to attend and sets itself the ambitious goal of “erasing poverty by 2030.”

After their On The Run success, Bey and Jay graced the Central Park stage in honor of a good cause.

So here’s how it works. The acts all performed for free, with brief speeches by the likes of Jessica Alba, Hugh Jackman and Olivia Wilde speaking in between performances. It was an exercise in raising awareness and putting pressure on world leaders to enact more effective policies on equality. Attendees were also encouraged to take the pledge, which would earn them points to put towards VIP entry.

Beyonce gave fans at her Paris concert an extra special treat on Friday night when rapper Nicki Minaj joined her on stage for a rendition of their duet ‘Flawless’. The performance marked the first time the pair had appeared on stage together, despite releasing the duet last month.

Dressed in a patterned Versace leotard and a spiked headpiece, Queen Bey was joined on stage by the diminutive ‘Anaconda’ singer who sported a matched catsuit and high ponytail. The performance closed the Paris concert which was part of Beyonce’s ‘On the Run’ tour with husband Jay-Z.

Beyonce has treated fans to a special look at just what went into making her MTV VMAs performance so spectacular by sharing a backstage video. In the four minute clip, the highs and lows of rehearsals are put on display as Beyonce and her dancers are shown trying to perfect the gruelling routine. First published on her Facebook page, the singer captioned the video, “Flashback Friday! A behind the scenes look at the days leading up to the 2014 MTV VMAs”.

Too often it seems like we get only examples of girl hate in media, but Demi Lovato is generally one to spread positivity and support for her fellow female celebs. Miss Lovato did not disappoint when speaking about Kim Kardashian recently. The former Disney girl, who has been very public about her own struggles with an eating disorder, spoke out against restrictive beauty standards in media, saying: "When I was growing up and when I was a pre-teen, the people that I had to look up to [for] body image [were] extremely underweight … [They] were all very bony at that time and that was the in thing.”

Lovato said this for Access Hollywood on Thursday. And here’s where the Kim K part comes in: "I really credit women like Beyonce and Kim Kardashian… [they] completely revolutionized what our generation's view of perception of what beautiful is and I really think that they had a huge impact on that.”

Cue the “no longer On The Run” jokes, as Beyonce and Jay Z are off the hook for their 2013 trip to Cuba. The Treasury Department’s Office of Inspector General  released a nine-page report on Wednesday, detailing its decision that Beyonce Knowles-Carter and Shawn Carter did NOT violate any laws, when they traveled to the country last year to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

It's ok, the Carters got the "all clear" from the treasury department.

In April 2013, the Carters’ trip to Cuba sparked widespread controversy. Because of the US embargo, tourism to the country is permitted only under a special license. Suspicions were raised that the couple’s visit to the island nation was in fact illegal – because the two engaged in recreational activities such as a welcome dinner, a walking tour of various Cuban neighborhoods and visits to see student artwork and theater performances, the couple were accused of violating the terms of their educational exchange permit. The story got such wide coverage, that Jay Z was prompted to pen an open letter to his critics and mention the incident in a song (also titled Open Letter). In the song, the rapper implied that he and Beyonce had received clearance from the POTUS himself, although the White House later denied giving permission. The new report rebuffs all claims that the Carters' trip violated the embargo.

Ok, overly enthusiastic music fans everywhere need to reel it in fast, because this is getting ridiculous. A man reportedly had his finger bitten at Beyonce and Jay Z’s On The Run gig in at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, after he confronted another attendee for groping his girlfriend. Following the bizarre sequence of events, Roberto Alcaraz-Garnica, 25, of San Diego was arrested for sexual battery and mayhem. Here’s how the scuffle allegedly came about.

The power couple have not acknowledged the incident.

“The suspect sexually assaulted the female victim,” Lieutenant John Luna of the Pasadena Police Department told TheWrap Sunday. “The woman's boyfriend confronted the alleged groper, and a fight ensued. During the altercation, the suspect bit the victim, causing serious injury to his finger.”

The 32-year-old is being honoured at the Cleveland, Ohio based museum as many of her clothes from music videos, performances and red carpet events are being displayed.

Beyoncé's wardrobe will soon be available for your viewing pleasure.

Several outfits that the 32 year-old has performed in will go on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum even though she hasn't been inducted yet.

On Friday (July 18th), the Rock Hall announced that clothes Beyoncé wore during her Super Bowl performance and music videos will be put in an exhibit, debuting next Tuesday in the Ahmet Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall in its Legends of Rock section.

Feeling glum because you didn't manage to get tickets to see Beyoncé and Jay Z present their "On The Run" world tour? Well, worry not: HBO will be bringing the couple's eagerly anticipated live shows to the small screen after taping their two French concerts. While it may not be the same as being there in the throng, HBO's coverage should be the next best thing.

"This is a major musical event that belongs on HBO," said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. "It's going to be a night to remember," via Variety. HBO announced the exciting news on Thursday (10th July) at the Television Critics Association summer tour.

The footage will reportedly be filmed during the Parisian leg of the tour - the pair's only European appearances - on the 12th and 13th September.

Whoever was in charge of the captioning at last night's BET Awards should hang their head in shame after they misspelled the name of the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award, Lionel Richie. During the televised coverage of the Black Entertainment Television Awards on Sunday night (29th June), which was watched by millions around the world, the broadcasting team managed to spell Richie's surname as "Ritchie."

Sure, plenty of worse things could have happened, but it's still a pretty embarrassing move considering Richie was practically the guest of honor at the bash. To make matters worse, the mistake flashed on the screen in large lettering as the 65 year-old soul star headed to collect his prize.

Soon the hashtag "#lionelritchie" began trending on Twitter as viewers picked up on the blunder and quickly spread the news leading to embarrassment for the show's production team.

The couple performed on the opening night of their tour in Miami on Wednesday (25th June) and some celebrity cameos were projected onto the backdrop of one of Jay-Z's performances.

20-year-old Bieber's photograph was shown in amongst a montage of famous celebrity mug shots including the likes of 50 Cent, Tupac, Robert Downey Jr. and Jay-Z himself. The images were shown during Jay-Z's performance of 'Izzo (H.O.V.A)'. When the music stopped Beyonce appeared on stage to say "Even the greatest can fall."

Beyoncé and Jay Z have kicked off their eagerly-anticipated On The Run world tour in Miami, with an inaugural performance taking place on Wednesday night (25th June). At the Sun Life stadium, the hip-hop couple treated fans to an explosive joint performance and a starry night to remember.

The 'Sweet Dreams' singer's frequent outfit changes were the talk of the evening, with an array of risqué new costumes showcased to dazzling effect. After appearing onstage dressed in a Versace fishnet bodysuit complete with matching balaclava, Bey swapped into a denim playsuit, a Versace leotard and a dominatric-style leather suit.

However, the evening's most widely-shared ensemble was a shining black bathing suit with two holes cut out for buttocks that the star and her backing dancers wore whilst performing the singer's signature booty-shimmy routine.

Footage was obtained by TMZ which clearly shows Solange hitting and kicking her brother-in-law.
