With 'Community' picked up by Yahoo Screen, does the streaming service have what it takes to make the show a hit?
‘Community’ fans: rejoice! Put down your pitchforks and send all of your scathing blog posts to the drafts section, because the show is officially coming back for a sixth season. In what was widely considered a surprise across the industry, the show was picked up by Yahoo Screen last week after talks fell apart with the streaming service Hulu. "I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo," showrunner Dan Harmon said in a statement. "I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, BangBus!"
Yahoo Screen picked up ‘Community’ for a sixth season
Harmon’s plans to de-throne BangBus may be a little farfetched, but the move from television to Internet for Community will undoubtedly work in the show’s favor. Over the years, it constantly struggled to keep up ratings, but there was always a strong Internet and social media presence with its fanbase that supported ‘Community’ through thick and thin. When the show was eventually canceled by their network NBC in early May, it looked like it was going to be the end of its five year run – however, it always had a chance to strive online.

Streaming site Hulu is in talks to bring back 'Community,' and here's why it's necessary.
Don’t count ‘Community’ out just yet. The former cult television show had been facing cancellation for years, and NBC finally gave it the axe in early May after ratings once again failed to live up to expectations. However, the show might just get another chance: the streaming website Hulu is in talks with Sony Pictures Television to bring ‘Community’ back for a sixth season.
Hulu may be bringing Dan Harmon's 'Community' Back
“We've been on the receiving end of some phone calls, but we really need to get together with the Community team and have real conversations and figure out the future. If there's any show that should have a future or could have a future, it really feels like Community is the one,” Sony Pictures Television co-president Jamie Erlicht told The Hollywood Reporter.

Even with its inane script and limp direction, this film is watchable simply because Drew Barrymore is present to humanise Adam Sandler. How she does this is a mystery, but the fact remains that he's annoyingly unlikeable without her. And history proves the point: Sandler's best-ever performances were in two films opposite Barrymore, 1998's The Wedding Singer and 2004's 50 First Dates. Although this movie isn't quite in that league.
They play Lauren and Jim, who meet on a disastrous blind date and vow never to see each other again. But they end up inadvertently sharing a safari holiday to South Africa when Lauren's best pal (Wendi McLendon-Covey) and Jim's boss cancel a holiday with their five kids. Which is handy since Lauren has two energetic sons (Braxton Beckham and Kyle Red Silverstein) while Jim has three needy daughters (Bella Thorne, Emma Fuhrmann and Alyvia Alyn Lind). Of course, the children are happy to have same-sex role models along, even if Lauren and Jim can't bear to be around each other.
There isn't a split-second when we don't know exactly where this plot is heading, even though the script veers wildly between wacky slapstick mayhem and sappy lesson-learning sentimentality. Every scene is carefully concocted to elicit either laughter or tears, and the manipulative filmmaking occasionally works. Although the movie's funniest moments are offhanded gags that feel improvised between Barrymore and Sandler. The child actors are all decent, carefully cast so each each simplistic character can have his or her corny journey to some sort of personal discovery.

Jim and Lauren are single parents who, after possibly the worst blind date both of them have ever been on, part ways hoping that's the last time they'll ever see each other. However, when the restaurant manages to get their cash cards mixed up, Jim is forced to call at Lauren's house to correct the mistake. It's there he finds out that his boss has just broken up with Lauren's best friend ahead of their luxury trip to Africa, leaving the vacation up for grabs for any other takers. Excited, Jim and Lauren separately arrange to take their kids along on the safari, but are convinced their holiday is ruined when they unexpectedly bump into one another. Against all odds, however, the pair find themselves with more in common than they initially thought and start to bond over their beautiful surroundings.

Our first look at season five of the NBC sitcom shows life after Greendale
Community will at last be back on our screens in the new year and to celebrate the long-awaited return of the Greendale Seven (whose numbers have admittedly declined since the start of the show) an all-new trailer has been released by NBC. Marking the return of series creator Dan Harmon to the helm, the new trailer is a cinematic feast, coming across more as a movie trailer than a promo for a television series.
Dan Harmon and Joel McHale both make their welcome returns to Greendale Community College
It seems as though Joel McHale's Jeff Winger has finally been able to reignite his law career after spending four years at the community college, only for it all to come crashing down as soon as he could get things moving again. The pop culture references are right here just as you would expect, with Abed (Danny Pudi) comparing Winger's return to Greendale with season nine of Scrubs, posing, "It could be like Scrubs season nine - a revamp, a do-over."

could be returning to the show that he created following a seasons absence
Amidst falling ratings and some pretty lousy episodes until around the halfway point of season four, it looks as though series creator Dan Harmon could be returning to Community to help pen the script for the fifth trip to Greendale Community College.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news on Monday, stating that Harmon is exploring the possibility of making a welcome return to the show he created. The show was commissioned for a fifth season the day after the final episode of season four aired, a series that was slow to start and had many fans and critics complaining that it had lost it's edge without Harmon at the helm. His replacements, David Guarascio and Moses Port, might still stop on if Harmon does decide to return to the Alison Brie and Joel McHale staring show, with the series creator joining the two as a co-writer or advisor.
Dan was fired from the show at the end of season third, following fallings out with officials at Sony Entertainment - who own network NBC - as well as cast and crew members, most famously Chevy Chase. Since his dismissal from the show he has been vocal on the subject when asked and during a radio interview with KCRW's 'The Business' last year, Harmon mentioned that he would only be willing to rejoin the show if Chase also came back. He also said, "Sony was always so bummed out about the way I wrote and thought, and they always fantasized about doing the show without me."
