McBusted are to headline Hyde Park next summer.

The pop supergroup announced this morning (09.12.13) they will be at the top of the bill for the Barclaycard presents British Summer Time gig at London's Hyde Park on July 6, 2014, and they will be supported by US boy band Backstreet Boys.

McBusted - made up of McFly and Busted members Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, Matt Willis and James Bourne - formed just one month ago and admit they thought it was a joke when their management told them about the upcoming concert.

Speaking at the announcement at the W Hotel in London's Leicester Square, they told BANG Showbiz: ''This is the biggest show we have ever played and probably will ever play. It's literally insane. This whole past month has been like one big wind up.

''It's a joke. The tour, obviously, has been incredible. We're all blown away by that, it's sold really well. We got told the news that we'd been offered to headline Hyde Park and we all laughed. But it's true.

''It feels ridiculous. It's just crazy. Bruce Springsteen plays Hyde Park, Rolling Stones play Hyde Park, and now McBusted are going to play Hyde Park. Ha, that's our band name!

''Can you imagine if someone from another country asks who is going to play Hyde Park? 'Is it Rolling Stones? No, it's McBusted. Who?!' ''

James is especially delighted the Backstreet Boys are going to be supporting the group and he is hoping the boy bands can join forces at Hyde Park for a joint performance of the US stars' 1999 hit 'I Want it That Way'.

James said: ''I love the Backstreet Boys. I would love to play with them, I want to sing 'I Want it That Way' with them.''

Matt added: ''They are James' favourite band so the idea that they are going to be playing is like a dream come true in itself. They were recently asked about us and I think they were like, 'Who? Is that a burger?' ''

Further supporting acts are to be announced for the British Summer Time extravaganza, which will take place at Hyde Park from July 4-13 2014.

Tickets for the McBusted and Backstreet Boys' gig go sale on Friday (13.12.13) at 9am. A pre-sale for Barclaycard customers will take place on Wednesday (11.12.13) at 9am at www.barclaycardunwind.com.
